Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

MORRISON, Colo. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 34th annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 4.189/275.90, Now #7; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 4.676/174.84, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.657/189.42, Was #13

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 49 percent, barometer 24.31 inches, adjusted altitude 8,932 feet, track temperature 78 degrees.

Chrisman was out of power around half track. Strasburg was hitting on all eight all the way down the track to get in the show.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 4.077/245.81, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.056/143.00, Was #17
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 5.285/147.62, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.600/174.71, Was #13

Lucas started to haze the tires and pedaled it and couldn't get it to hook up. McMillen was mixing up the cylinders on the top end, but still gets into the show. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.220, 660ft-3.183/261.62 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.657/233.72, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.850/157.95, Was #16
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 5.301/117.14, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.565/176.53, Was #13

Schumacher started to smoke the tires and pedaled it and the the engine let go with a big bang and the chutes deployed/ Brown started to smoke the tires and pedaled it, but will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.541/177.70, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.108/251.49, Was #7
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.889/310.13, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.476/184.83, Was #12

Bernstein starts to drift out of the groove and gets close to the centerline when he started to lose traction and clicked it off. Kalitta launched hard keep it hitting on all eight with the header flames shooting high over the rear wing to go to the number one spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.191, 660ft-3.115/275.96 mph.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 8.324/77.16, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.002/307.51, Was #5
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 5.422/137.43, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.376/188.96, Was #12

Massey is up in smoke early and clicked it off. torrence was up in smoke and pedaled it, but was back up in smoke before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.949/302.14, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.984/307.79, Was #4
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.926/309.56, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.307/205.63, Was #11

Vandergriff with another good looking pass, but will not improve on his earlier time. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.217, 660ft-3.155/270.81 mph. Force with the new car, doesn't have the canopy on this one. She launches hard and is straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.878 sec., 330ft-2.222, 660ft-3.149/274.72 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 5.036/144.06, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.975/308.57, Was #5
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 4.052/288.89, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.205/224.66, Was #11

Millican is up in smoke by 300 feet and clicked it off. Grubnic was on a real good pass until right in the lights when the engine let go with quick fireball. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.874 sec., 330ft-2.248, 660ft-3.223/260.51 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.023/290.88, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.935/315.12, Was #3
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.924/313.95, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.018/312.06, Was #7

Langdon slowed from his time earlier today, but still runs the fifth quickest pass of the round. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.244, 660ft-3.207/264.65 mph. alBalooshi launched hard and was straight down the groove with a great pass to go to the number two spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.878 sec., 330ft-2.233, 660ft-3.156/277.43 mph.
