A persistent afternoon rain washed out Saturday's final qualifying round in the Lucas Oil Nationals
at Brainerd International Raceway, leaving Clay Millican and the LifeLockracing.com Top Fuel team
in the No. 9 starting berth for Sunday's eliminations.
Millican posted his quickest elapsed time -- 3.974 seconds at 302.02 mph -- on Saturday's lone lap
and it put him against Brandon Bernstein (8th, 3.965, 304.05) in the opening round.
Millican will be attempting to put more distance between himself and Joe Hartley in the quest for
the 10th an final Countdown to the Championship spot. The Tennessee competitor holds a 44-point
advantage.
"Racing Brandon is never easy," Millican said. "You can never take that team lightly. We'll be
doing our best to run quicker and faster than everyone we race.
"As for Hartley, we can't seem to get away from each other. He qualified one place behind us.
We'll be keeping our eyes on the weather, too, because the forecast says to expect thunder storms
all day."
