Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car owner/driver Bob Godfrey made his triumphant return to Salt Lake City's
Rocky Mountain Raceway August 1st. for the track's annual Funny Car Fever.
Godfrey's "Burn-N-Money" 1969 Camaro won the Nitro Nationals at RMR in June and returned to the
track he loves and scored again at Funny Car Fever and recorded low e.t. of the event, 6.22 seconds
at 227 mph to claim his second victory at the legendary drag strip.
Godfrey was ecstatic about his performance and looks forward to the next event on his schedule, the
California Hot Rod Reunion at the famed Famoso Dragway in Bakersfield, Calif. Oct 16-18.
"The CHRR is one of the biggest events of the year for nostalgia Funny Cars and now that we're
running good I feel really confident that we'll be able to run with the "Big Dogs" at Bakersfield,"
Godfrey said. "We're learning something new every time we go down the track and we'll find out
what we've got at the CHRR."
"I couldn't, and wouldn't be able to do this if it wasn't for my crew and sponsors," Godfrey
continued. My crew are all volunteers who donate their time and services and thanks to Bob
Bradley, Joe Turner, Steve Dickerman, Michelle "Clutch Girl" Read, Becky Hammel and Mikayla Peters
for all their hard work and effort to make this happen."
"Everybody knows that these cars run on not only nitro but also money hence the name of the car,"
Godfrey added. "I'm fortunate to have great sponsors and marketing partners like K&N Filters, Lucas
Oil, Turbo Hot Header Coatings, 10,000 RPM ReEnergized Coils & Clutch Floaters, GORR Fuel Systems,
Control Cables, SPEEDLOX, The LemonLeaf.com, Smiley's Custom Headers, BAE and Clutch-Girl.com.
Without their support I wouldn't be able to do this."
