All drag racing competitors are looking at the last part of the 2009 racing season for those
invaluable points as they jockey for their place in history, either Nationally or within their
respective competition divisions. This weekend marks the 4th event within the Division Five West
Central High & Mighty Division at Cordova Dragway Park in Cordova, Illinois, for the another
opportunity to gather those points.
For Tigerflow Racing, many of the sportsman teams are traveling out of Division 4 more than 600
miles to compete in the festivities all vying to have their names placed within the history books
for the event, the Winner's Circle.
In the Top Sportsman category, Keith Haney will be looking for a repeat consistent performance from
Baytown, Texas a couple of weeks ago. He and his Suburban Chevrolet /Miami Auto Supercenter and
Tigerflow Racing partnered team won their first ever Wally at that event in a picture perfect
scenario with his brand new Stroup 2009 Pontiac GXP race car.
Haney goes into this race in the 4th position within the Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series
Points chase with only 4 races completed to his credit for this year.
Reigning 2008 Top Dragster Champion, Monroe Guest, will be racing Top Dragster in only his second
event of the 2009 racing season. He's looking to gain not only points, but valuable data as he is
going to back half the season with as many as eleven more events, including this weekend in
Cordova.
Also competing in the Top Dragster category is Billy Davis out of Rogers, Arkansas. Racing this
weekend along with Davis is his wife, Cynthia, who will be driving the Tigerflow Racing Super Comp
Dragster.
In addition to driving duties in his Top Dragster, Billy Davis has recently been cross grading his
license in Top Alcohol Funny Car at Frank Hawley's School of Drag Racing.
Last, but not least, multiple event winner Tommy Phillips will be pulling his normal double duty
within the Super Comp and Super Gas categories.
Gates at Cordova Dragway Park open at 7 a.m. both days. Qualifying and time trials start Friday
morning at 10 and continue Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Eliminations will begin at 1 p.m.
Saturday. Racers in Comp Eliminator, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman will have two qualifying
sessions on Friday, at 4 and 6 p.m., and one on Saturday, at 11 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top
Alcohol Funny Car competitors will qualify at 8:30 p.m. Friday and at noon on Saturday. They will
run first round of eliminations Saturday at 6 p.m.
