More than 30 drag racers who will be racing Aug. 13-16 during the 2009 Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at
Brainerd International Raceway will be at Westgate Mall from 4-7 pm, Wednesday, Aug. 12 in
Brainerd. Westgate Mall is located on Hwy 210 just east of Hwy 371 in Baxter.
It's the 4th Annual Westgate Mall Fan Fest, which is free and open to the public. It's also a
fundraiser for Brainerd Community Action, which supports a number of non-profit groups in the
Brainerd area.
Drivers and their dragsters, cars and bikes will be on hand both inside and outside the mall.
Drivers will be available to talk with fans, sign autographs and show off their wheels. There will
also be radio remotes, ticket giveaways, food vendors and a lot of fun.
At 7:30 pm, the race teams will receive a police escort up Hwy 371 to BIR. They'll shut down the
streets and parade the trucks and transports up the highway to the track for the start of the 28th
Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals.
