Driving
Beginning with the ADRL Hardee's Gateway Drags II in Madison, Ill., ADRL Pro Extreme veteran Todd
Tutterow will join Top Fuel driver Doug Herbert and B.R.A.K.E.S., the 501(c)(3) charity
organization he founded in memory of his two sons, to help promote safe teen driving. Tutterow's
Pro Extreme Corvette will run a specially designed wrap to help bring the B.R.A.K.E.S. message to
ADRL fans for the last four races of the 2009 ADRL tour.
"Doug Herbert Performance has helped us with parts for our race car for many years now. My son Ty
is 14 and will be driving soon, and the message that the B.R.A.K.E.S. organization sends is
something every parent and teenager needs to be aware of," Tutterow said. "No parent should have to
deal with the pain and loss that Doug has had to deal with."
"I'm really glad that Todd has offered to do this for B.R.A.K.E.S.," said Herbert, who lost his two
sons, Jon and James, in a tragic car accident that was a result of high speed and inexperience. "I
think it's awesome that B.R.A.K.E.S. will have a presence at ADRL races this year. I really
appreciate everything Todd and [ADRL President] Kenny Nowling are doing to help us spread the word
to young people across the country."
Tutterow joins a long list of professional drivers across various series who have teamed with the
501(c)(3) foundation to help deliver the important message that if teens want to race, they need to
take it off the street and take it to the race track.
In pursuit of its mission to prevent injuries and safe lives, B.R.A.K.E.S. hosts free teen safe
driving schools that provide hands-on, behind the wheel training for teenagers. The B.R.A.K.E.S.
Teen Pro-Active Driving School, which is composed of five different courses, is designed to give
young drivers the dynamic experience of handling a vehicle in adverse driving conditions and a
controlled environment.
