Cody Barklage and Lucas Oil will race this weekend's ADRL Hardee's Gateway Drags II in Madison, IL.
Racing the seventh of 10 races in the 2009 National Guard ADRL Tour, every round is of great
importance.
"We've said before, our goal is to make it to the Battle of the Belts," said Barklage. "We
consider this to be our hometown race. Our team has had a lot of success at Gateway in previous
years, and we want to continue that tradition. Since we are in the No.. 9 spot in points, we feel
the pressure even more to perform well. We've always raced with the attitude of doing our best,
but with only a few races left, we are hoping to step things up."
With several round wins and event final rounds accumulated as a team at Gateway, Cody Barklage and
the entire Lucas Oil team is hoping their experience will give them an advantage.
"We've had a positive year so far," Barklage went on to say. "The car has been responding exactly
how we need it to be. Although we always have a lot going on at our hometown race, we will be
concentrating on how to qualify well and go rounds. We've done well in points so far, but we must
keep the momentum going through the final few races."
The ADRL Hardee's Gateway Drags II will take place August 7 - 8, 2009 at Gateway International
Raceway - Madison, Illinois. On Friday, July 24, Spectator gates will open at 9:00 am.
Test-n-tune will run all day and pre-race ceremonies will take place at 6:45 pm, with Rd.1 of
qualifying after.
