LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 11th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Johnny Ahten Runs 14.003/76.75, Now #1

11:11 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 19 percent, barometer 28.07 inches, adjusted altitude 2,935 feet, track temperature 91 degrees.

Ahten rattles the tires early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 5.405/255.34, Now #1
Right Lane: Eugene Tumbarello Runs 12.578/56.77, Now #2

Tumbarello has problems right out of the gate and he clicks it off early. Palmer moved around early in the run but still made a decent pass.

Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 22.188/27.07, Now #5
Right Lane: Don St. Arnaud Runs 5.426/256.75, Now #2

Alexander has traction problems at the hit and clicks it off early. St. Arnaud makes a clean run and gets in the second spot for now.

Left Lane: Ashley Bart Runs 5.479/228.69, Now #3
Right Lane: Sidnei Frigo Runs 5.539/248.66, Now #4

Bart was on a decent pass but banged the blower about 1100 feet out. frigo made a clean run to get in the fourth spot for now.

Left Lane: Megan McKernan Runs 5.413/255.68, Now #3
Right Lane: Mark Taliaferro Runs 5.352/272.67, Now #1

Taliaferro goes right down the groove and moves into the top spot for now. McKernan makes a clean run and gets in the third spot.

Right Lane: Ray Martin Runs 5.471/263.82, Now #5

Martin goes right down the groove and moves into the fifth spot for now.

---

Left Lane: Aaron Tatum Runs 6.017/186.87, Now #9
Right Lane: John Finke Runs 5.471/264.29, Now #5

Tatum was losing cylinders all the way through the run. Finke made a clean run and gets in the fifth spot.

Left Lane: Chase Copeland Runs 5.322/273.33, Now #1
Right Lane: Michael Manners Runs 5.322/271.41, Now #2

A good side-by-side, both right down the groove with the exact same ET. Copeland was a little faster and will take the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Chris Demke Runs 5.427/263.46, Now #8
Right Lane: Jim Whiteley Runs 5.342/266.37, Now #3

Whiteley makes a clean pass and gets in the third spot for now. Demke makes a clean run to get in the top half of the field for now.

Left Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.365/263.56, Now #5
Right Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.434/263.87, Now #10

Severance and Shields make decent runs to get in the show and bump out Alexander and Ahten.
