CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 27th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Left Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 11.323/67.80, Now #2 Right Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 4.347/216.17, Now #1 McClenathan was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Strasburg dropped a cylinder early. He clicked it off early, just past half track. Left Lane: Dom Lagana Runs 6.773/85.79, Now #2 Right Lane: Steve Torrence No Time, Now #4 Torrence wasn't able to get the car to fire. Lagana was up in smoke by 150 feet and clicked it off... Left Lane: Troy Buff Runs 6.156/98.43, Now #2 Right Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 7.193/72.68, Now #4 Fuller was up in smoke early and then there was big bang and quick flash of flames before the chutes came out. Buff started to smoke the tires and clicked it off. The word is there is oil in Fuller's lane. Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 4.131/253.33, Now #2 Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.105/287.35, Now #1 Weather conditions: air temperature 94 degrees, relative humidity 14 percent, barometer 28.53 inches, adjusted altitude 4,005 feet, track temperature 128 degrees.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 4.740/195.65, Now #5 Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.171/229.74, Now #3 Lucas started to smoke the tires and pedaled it by 330 feet and then was back up in smoke. Langdon started to haze the tires on the top end and clicked it off early. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.241, 660ft-3.222/254.33 mph. Left Lane: David Grubnic No Time, Now #12 Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.012/293.98, Now #1 Grubnic's car sounded weird after the burnout and then as they were trying to make adjustments to the car the fuel line came off, but the team got it handled and the car shut off with no serious problems. Kalitta was straight down the groove and then started hazing the tires right in the lights. Kalitta goes to the number one spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.211, 660ft-3.194/258.37 mph. Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.087/284.93, Now #3 Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.984/297.48, Now #1 A good side-by-side drag race...Bernstein goes to the number three spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.232, 660ft-3.239/249.26 mph. Schumacher launched hard and keep it hooked up all the way down track to go to the number one spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.205, 660ft-3.177/262.33 mph. Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 4.245/223.50, Now #8 Right Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.047/272.39, Now #3 Dixon was on a good pass until just past half track when it started mixing up cylinders and he clicked it off early. Worsham keep it hooked up until right in the lights when it started to haze the tires and he clicked it off early. Del Worsham's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.224, 660ft-3.211/256.06 mph. Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.065/268.54, Now #4 Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 6.501/91.05, Now #13 Massey was up in smoke early and clicked it off... Brown started to smoke the tires around half track and hazed them on through the 1000 feet, but still goes to the number four spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.219, 660ft-3.187/252.47 mph.
