Pro Stock Motorcycle Time Trial Notes, Session #3

CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 3 time trials in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA, Indianapolis Test Session Day 1 listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.115/186.23, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.331/185.31, Was #3

3:29 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 84 degrees, relative humidity 44 percent, barometer 29.20 inches, adjusted altitude 3,177 feet, track temperature 125 degrees.

In the heat of the afternoon, Ellis' third pass produced a competitive 60-foot time and his best run so far. Chip Ellis' incremental times: 60ft-1.084 sec., 330ft-2.955, 660ft-4.535/155.11 mph, 1,000ft-5.918.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.112/187.34, Now #2; No Prior Run

3:32 p.m. Arana waited for the heat of the day before bringing his Buell to the line. Good-looking run, with a strong launch. Hector Arana's incremental times: 60ft-1.062 sec., 330ft-2.929, 660ft-4.522/153.33 mph, 1,000ft-5.917.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.123/168.28, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.096/173.54, Was #1

3:56 p.m. Nice-looking pass by Smith, with an early shutoff. Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.082 sec., 330ft-2.927, 660ft-4.493/156.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.864.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.069/189.50, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.117/186.18, Was #2

4:16 p.m. Johnson with his best-looking run and best numbers of the day. Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.072 sec., 330ft-2.928, 660ft-4.507/154.95 mph, 1,000ft-5.887.
