ENNIS, Texas - Results of round 1 eliminations in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the 13th annual NHRA Revell Nationals:

3:12 PM ... Great leaves by both drivers, and then it's all up to the tuners. Melanie lost some ground in the first couple hundred feet, then they were side-by-side for the rest of the lap. The margin at the end wasn't that close, 0.204 seconds.

Russell shakes hard off the line, hard enough that the wing supports break on the right side, so Darrell runs the rest of the quarter-mile with the win dangling off to one side. Thankfully he completes the run without getting loose, and gets to face off again next round.

McCosh launches into violent tire shake and shuts it off, and coast on through. He stops out on the track. Beecham with clean pass and almost repeats his qualifying pass. Apparently he shook a fuel line loose and he trailed fuel the length of the track. We will be down for a short clean-up.

After about a 10 minute clean-up we are back. Bowen gets out the gate first and never looks back. Snow sounded like he was laboring all the way through the quarter-mile.

Gunderson starts losing an engine around 330-foot mark and smokes it and leave oil all the way down track. Gay falls off on the top end, but holds on to take the win. We are down for another clean-up.

That was a long clean-up ,and the Safety Safari did their job as both lanes hold quick passes. Santos improves on his qualifying time to chase down Costanza for the win.

Thompson Leaves before the tree is activated, and then gets out of the groove and clicks it off. Henkelman improves on his qualifying time, so he would of been real tough anyway.
