ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Truck at the 13th annual NHRA Revell Nationals, listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, position in order following run:

Left Lane: Jonathan Aloisio Runs 8.837/112.35 Psn # 2
Right Lane: Brian Self Runs 7.885/170.35 Psn # 1

11:00 AM There was a short delay while the Safety Safari re-prepped the top end of the track after several Competition Eliminator cars slipped and slud on the top end during their first qualifying session.

Aloisio's is a new truck on the tour - at least I think it is. We'll check between rounds. Both trucks posted 1.10 60' times, but Aloisio's was sluggish on the first half.

Left Lane: Roy Simmons Runs 8.200/132.33 Psn # 3
Right Lane: Joe Pigford Runs 7.774/171.33 Psn # 1

1.08 60' times in both lanes here, and again the left-lane truck falls behind early in the run.

Left Lane: Ronnie Sox Runs 7.828/171.55 Psn # 2
Right Lane: Tom Yancer Runs 8.636/143.70 Psn # 5

1.09 60' left lane, 1.18 right.

Left Lane: Mike Coughlin Runs 7.746/173.44 Psn # 1
Right Lane: Robert Freeman No Time Psn # 8

Freeman's truck stalled after the burnout. Coughlin was in the 1.09 60' range.

Left Lane: Dave McConnell Runs 7.805/170.03 Psn # 3
Right Lane: John Lukovich Runs 10.086/120.14 Psn # 9

Lukovich's truck was sluggish on the launch - McConnell carded a 1.07 60' time, the quickest yet.

Left Lane: Mike Mahon Runs 7.984/167.87 Psn # 6
Right Lane: Randy Daniels Runs 21.089/ 34.73 Psn #11

Mahon posted a 1.12 for 60 feet. Daniels' truck lurched off the starting line and then immediately slowed, coasting through.

Left Lane: Bart Price Runs 7.856/170.81 Psn # 6
Right Lane: Dale Eaton Runs 7.856/173.34 Psn # 5

1.07 60' for Price, 1.09 for Eaton.

Left Lane: Dyno Don Nicholson Runs 8.061/167.97 Psn #10
Right Lane: Arthur Hodges Runs 7.977/140.73 Psn # 8

Slow 60-foot times in both lanes here.

Left Lane: Don Smith Runs 7.808/171.82 Psn # 5
Right Lane: David Nickens Runs 7.698/173.91 Psn # 1

Nickens made a nice pass here, clean and straight.

Left Lane: Steven Farr Runs 7.947/166.05 Psn #11
Right Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 7.671/175.33 Psn # 1

The bump is Lukovich's 10.086 - for now. 1.12 60' left lane, 1.09 right. Nice pass by Hass to take over the pole from Nickens. Now the bump is Yancer's 8.636.

Left Lane: John Lingenfelter Runs 7.709/175.43 Psn # 3
Right Lane: Sondra Sikes Runs 17.171/ 45.68 Psn #20

The 60' times were 1.10 left, 1.11 right, but Sikes had immediate problems and coasted through. Nice pass by Lingenfelter.

Left Lane: Mark Ingersoll Runs 7.752/172.24 Psn # 5
Right Lane: Roy Hill Runs 7.762/172.14 Psn # 6

This pair puts Dyno Don on the bubble at 8.061 - but he's in a Ford, so he won't be bumped.

Left Lane: Brad Jeter Runs 7.621/176.29 Psn # 1
Right Lane: Grant Lewis Runs 7.682/175.16 Psn # 3

A pair of 1.08 60' times got these two well on their way. Two nice runs as the sun begins to shine a bit.

Left Lane: Tim Freeman Runs 7.625/175.57 Psn # 3
Right Lane: Larry Kopp Runs 7.594/175.71 Psn # 1

Kopp raises the ante a ton, nice runs in both lanes once again. Kopp hiked the left front wheel a couple feet in the air on the launch.

Left Lane: Larry Seay Runs 7.739/173.97 Psn # 9
Right Lane: Bob Panella Jr Runs 7.615/176.22 Psn # 2

And the hits just keep on coming, two more nice runs to shuffle the top of the order.

Left Lane: Craig Eaton Runs 7.683/173.54 Psn # 7
Right Lane: Chris DeSalvo Runs 7.752/172.57 Psn #12

Craig's father, Dale, ran earlier in the other Atsco truck.

Left Lane: Todd Patterson No Time Psn #33

Patterson fired the engine, did the burnout, and then shut it off. They removed the hood, started it again, and shut it off again.

We close with Kopp on the pole at 7.594 and two of the three Fords in the field on the manufacturers' guarantee - which will not be a player in 1999. Roy Hill's ET is quick enough to make the field on its own merits and the 7.762 at 172.14 mph are career bests.
