Head launches and then has problems right off the start. Looked like he had rear-end problems, as there were a lot of sparks. Cory loses an engine right in the lights. There is a big flash of flame, and a piece of the engine cut the tire. He skids to a stop and is out of the car and is okay.

Kalitta is up in smoke as soon as he hits the throttle, and he pedals it, starts to lose traction again and clicks it off. Bernstein starts to lose traction just past half track, but does the quick pedal job and drives it to the final again this week. Bernstein with his quickest pass of the night, but will give up lane choice to McClenathan in the final.
