Phil Brownlow, 52, of Rochester, Minn., and Tim Wudarczyk, 43, of Lawrence,
Kan., were involved in a racing accident during Competition Eliminator
qualifying Friday. Wudarczyk's Pontiac Firebird went out of control, crossed
the center line and traveled into the path of Brownlow's dragster causing the
dragster to roll. Both vehicles came to rest in the right lane. Wudarczyk was
checked at the track by NHRA medical officials and was expected to be
released. Brownlow, who was semi-unconscious immediately following the
incident, was transported to St. Francis Hospital for observation.
