TOPEKA, Kan. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the 10th annual Parts America Nationals, listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, position in order following run:

Left Lane: Pete Williams Runs 7.118/193.92 Psn # 1
Right Lane: David Janes Runs 8.321/125.00 Psn # 2

We start Pro Stock with overcast skies and the temperature in the mid 50's the humidity is 86% and the barometer is 29.90 inches.

Both cars are real lose on the launch.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 7.143/192.80 Psn # 2
Right Lane: Arturo Delgado Runs 14.014/ 60.28 Psn # 4

Rickie making his first pass in the second V. Gaines car.

Left Lane: Brad Klein Runs 7.167/193.17 Psn # 4
Right Lane: Shawn Collins Runs 7.114/195.18 Psn # 1

Klien was fish-tailing all way down the concrete launch pad, and Collins keeps it straight to take away the number one spot.

Left Lane: Jamie Yates Runs 7.106/193.54 Psn # 2
Right Lane: Mark Osborne Runs 7.000/196.46 Psn # 1

Osborne shows here the track can hold the horsepower.

Left Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 7.013/195.48 Psn # 2
Right Lane: Tom Martino Runs 7.107/194.04 Psn # 4

Martino is not in the Six Flag livery, but is flying a red and white Jessel paint scheme.

Left Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 10.498/ 85.67 Psn #11
Right Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 7.017/195.95 Psn # 3

Thomas gets out of the groove early and has to lift. Pawuk keeps it straight and jumps up to the number three spot.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 7.040/194.76 Psn # 4
Right Lane: Ray Franks Runs 7.101/194.25 Psn # 5

Left Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 6.993/195.48 Psn # 1
Right Lane: Gary Wiggins Runs 7.149/193.67 Psn #12

Allen after struggling for the last few races looks like they have it figured out with our first six second pass of the weekend.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 10.146/ 91.12 Psn #16
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 7.070/195.22 Psn # 6

Major problems on the launch for Warren, there is clutch dust coming from the car similar to like what you would see from a Funny Car.

Left Lane: Mark Thomas Runs 20.701/ 37.37 Psn #20
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 7.156/194.17 Psn #14

Thomas does not get it out of first gear, and coast on through the quarter mile. Anderson gets in and bumps out his old boss.

Left Lane: George Marnell Runs 7.029/195.01 Psn # 5
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 7.061/195.56 Psn # 7

Coughlin does a great driving job here as he was out of the groove early, but was able to drive back into the groove.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 7.113/193.13 Psn #13
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 7.041/195.01 Psn # 7

Johnson representing Dodge here as the Dodge boys have parked their cars for the rest of the season. Yates is able to get into the top half of the season. The bump is now Rickie Smith with a 7.143.

Left Lane: John Nobile Runs 7.039/195.03 Psn # 6
Right Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 7.105/194.42 Psn #12

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 13.653/ 62.31 Psn #26
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 7.046/195.05 Psn # 9

Jeg is real loose on the launch and makes a move toward the wall and clicks it off. Gaines with the assistance from Rickie Smith goes straight down the track.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 7.068/194.04 Psn #11
Right Lane: Danny Coffman Runs 7.086/194.93 Psn #13

Left Lane: Larry Nance Runs 12.461/ 68.39 Psn #28

The next to last car of the session and it is the other Dodge car and he has to go quicker than Jamie Yates' 7.106 to make the show.

He makes a quick move toward the centerline and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 7.029/196.97 Psn # 5

Kurt is the last car of the session and like his father he drives through the clutch, but is able to go fast enough to take the track mile per hour record.

We finish with Bruce Allen in his Pennzoil Outlaw Fuel Additives car in the number one spot with the only six second pass of the session. Steve Schmidt is holding on to the bump with a 7.105 seconds.
