Top Fuel Time Trial Notes, Session #2

CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 2 time trials in Top Fuel at the NHRA, Indianapolis Test Session listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 6.095/140.94, Now #2; No Prior Run

3:46 p.m. Troxel's first pass here looked pretty good for about 400 feet, then she lost traction and clicked it off. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.215, 660ft-3.327/195.17mph, 1,000ft-4.641

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 9.219/81.52, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.168/194.86, Was #1

4:03 p.m. Schumacher's car was skipping the rear tires just past the 60-foot marker. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.350, 660ft-4.230/110.75mph, 1,000ft-6.620

Left Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 7.033/111.43, Now #3; No Prior Run

4:08 p.m. Bazemore made it all the way to 300 feet before smoking the tires. Whit Bazemore's incremental times: 60ft-0.895 sec., 330ft-2.284, 660ft-3.605/159.29mph, 1,000ft-5.216

Left Lane: Hillary Will Runs 6.692/118.04, Now #3; No Prior Run

4:11 p.m. Will got past the 330-foot marker before losing traction. Hillary Will's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.212, 660ft-3.458/170.00mph, 1,000ft-4.976

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 11.097/77.53, Now #7; Best prior run: 10.569/79.11, Was #4
Right Lane: Not on File No Time, Now #8; No Prior Run

5:39 p.m. Vandergriff lost traction just past the 60-foot marker.

Left Lane: Phil Burkart Runs 6.644/129.49, Now #3; Best prior run: 8.659/87.29, Was #6

5:50 p.m. Found out between runs that Phil Burkart is making laps in Joe Hartley's Top Fueler - the earlier run was also Burkart. This one started out nicely, but he lost traction as he passed the 330-foot marker, then lost the blower belt and the belt guard. Phil Burkart's incremental times: 60ft-0.888 sec., 330ft-2.265, 660ft-3.546/167.91mph, 1,000ft-5.045.

Left Lane: Scott Kalitta Runs 7.792/93.91, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.367/106.22, Was #6

6:03 p.m. The car left hard, but started smoking the tires before the front wheels reached the 330-foot marker. Scott Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.253, 660ft-3.775/138.24mph, 1,000ft-5.650

Left Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 6.451/127.67, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.033/111.43, Was #5

6:25 p.m. Bazemore made a strong launch, losing traction as he passed the 330-foot marker. Whit Bazemore's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.200, 660ft-3.402/176.95mph, 1,000ft-4.850

Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 4.607/292.39, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.095/140.94, Was #2

6:39 p.m. This was a greatpass for about 1,100 feet, then the blower belt shredded. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.204, 660ft-3.132/274.89mph, 1,000ft-3.901.
