CECIL, Ga. -- Qualifying was cut short by rain at the NHRA Southeast division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at South Georgia Motorsports Park. The inclement weather forced NHRA and track officials to pull the plug on Saturday's activities but the event will continue Sunday with only slight modifications to the schedule.

The fields in Comp Eliminator, Super Stock and Stock are set and competitors in those classes and in Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street will start eliminations Sunday morning at 8:30. Gates at South Georgia Motorsports Park will open at 7:30 a.m.

Competitors in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will have a single qualifying attempt in the morning, following the Top Sportsman class's final qualifying pass at 9:30 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will run first round of eliminations at 1 p.m., as originally scheduled.

In qualifying that was completed, Jeff Taylor, Floyds Knobs, Ind., remained in the No. 1 spot in Comp Eliminator as did Columbus, Ga., Stock racer Jimmy Parker, and Top Sportsman competitor Mike Gardner of Haymarket, Va. In Super Stock, Johnny Fogle, Norway, S.C., moved into the top position.

South Georgia Motorsports Park is located 12 miles north of Valdosta. From the north or south, take I-75 to Old Coffee Road (exit 32). Take Old Coffee Road east to Highway 42 and go north to the track. Tickets for adults are $20 and $5 for children 6 to 12 years old. Kids 5 and under are admitted free. For more information call the track, (229) 896-7000, or visit www.sgmpracing.com.
