Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #1

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 36th annual MAC Tools NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 7.399/145.20, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 61 degrees, relative humidity 46 percent, barometer 29.87 inches, adjusted altitude 315 feet, track temperature 58 degrees.

All the talk is this will be the session that they break the 6-second barrier.


Left Lane: Rickey Gadson Runs 7.386/182.03, Now #1
Right Lane: Johnny Bond Runs 8.056/167.62, Now #3

Gadson was able to get down the track with no problems.

Left Lane: Ed Krawiec Runs 7.336/184.53, Now #1
Right Lane: Angie McBride Runs 20.896/25.58, Now #5

McBride got out of the groove early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 10.329/90.55, Now #5
Right Lane: Paul Gast Runs 13.194/56.85, Now #6

Gast with problems early in the run and shuts it off. Arana got out of the groove and that is when he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bruce Dickson Runs 10.161/131.75, Now #6
Right Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.215/184.80, Now #1

Schnitz had a lot trouble getting the bike to start. He then got out of the groove and shut it off. It looks Dickson lost an engine as he is trailing smoke all the way down the 1320.

Left Lane: Thomas Byrd Runs 8.257/157.28, Now #6
Right Lane: Scott Valetti Runs 13.252/59.78, Now #10

Valetti is bouncing right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 7.203/184.01, Now #1
Right Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 9.759/158.08, Now #8

Wells got out of the groove, and Bostick with the best pass of the session.

Left Lane: Lloyd Straus Runs 7.301/185.49, Now #3
Right Lane: Tommy Grimes Runs 8.744/103.23, Now #9

Grimes got real close to the wall and was able to keep it off the wall. Straus with no problems.

Left Lane: Connie Cohen Runs 7.309/184.95, Now #4
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.715/130.49, Now #8

DeSantis was out of the groove and close to the wall and clicked it off. cohen with a clean pass.

Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.372/179.74, Now #7
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.336/183.44, Now #6

Fred Camarena has said he wants to be referred to as Freddie.

Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.082/183.86, Now #1
Right Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.292/185.98, Now #4

Ellis with a nice looking pass for the number one spot.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.311/186.45, Now #8
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.229/184.99, Now #4

A couple more good looking passes.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 10.449/78.12, Now #21

Stoffer with tire shake right off the starting line and then got out of the groove before she clicked it off.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 8.627/105.79, Now #18
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.033/190.47, Now #1

Johnson made a quick move toward the wall and shut it off. Scali with a great looking pass to go to number one and a track E.T. record.

Left Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.212/189.03, Now #5
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.117/189.47, Now #3

A couple good looking passes.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.241/182.18, Now #9
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.063/186.37, Now #2

Brown with nice pass to go into the number two spot.

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.029/187.89, Now #1
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.112/162.19, Now #5

Hines got out of the groove on the top end. Angelle with a great looking pass for the number one spot and track record.

Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-1.063 sec., 330ft-2.893, 660ft-4.462/155.70mph, 1,000ft-5.841
Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.077 sec., 330ft-2.895, 660ft-4.443/157.72mph, 1,000ft-5.810
