Gaines has qualified eight times here but this is his first round win. He runs Connolly down
and takes the win. V. Gaines' MOV: 0.0125 seconds (approximately 4 feet).

Johns is late at the hit but with Jenkins power it made no difference as he cards low ET of the round to this point.

He's already 42-22 for his career...of one season. This is the 241 time that KJ has qualified for an NHRA event. Just a note of possible interest. There is a news conference scheduled for after the Pro session today. It's rumored that WJ will announce his retirement after next season. Close race but it's Line with the win. Both lights were mediocre but they were even at the start. Krisher was about .02 quicker
and takes the win. Ron Krisher's MOV: 0.0072 seconds (approximately 2 feet). In round two
Anderson has choice over Smith; Morgan over Edwards; Gaines over Line and Johns over
Krisher.
