POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 40th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Colt Mikel Runs 8.481/-0.539, Now #6; B/TA Index: 9.02, Prior Best: 8.340/-0.680, Was #6
Right Lane: Ray Hadford Runs 7.097/-0.493, Now #30; A/ND Index: 7.59, Prior Best: 7.195/-0.395, Was #39

Hadford picks up a tenth and makes the field in the 30th spot for the moment. Mikel will stand on his .680 under.

Kaplan must be looking for his spot to shutoff in eliminations tomorrow. He heeds to be just a bit earlier to avoid the perm CIC. Tucker doesn't improve.

Martin launched and went directly into tire shake. The car fell flat on it's face and he coasted out the other end. Justice failed to make the number and will watch from the stands of Saturday.

Ellis launched pretty well in the AA/AA and carded a 1.033 60 foot number. After that car was very loose and he wisely choose to call it off. That's the end of qualifying and we move into the Pros.
