ENNIS, Texas -- The NHRA O'Reilly Fall Nationals, the 21st event of the National Hot Rod Association's 23 event 2002 POWERade Drag Racing Series, highlights the 2002 event schedule at the world famous Texas Motorplex, in Ennis, Texas. From funny car fans to motorcycle riders and from music aficionados to bracket racers, the new season at Texas Motorplex offers a little something for everyone.

While favorite events like the O'Reilly Fall Nationals (October 10-13), Super Chevy Show (May 17-19), Fun Ford Weekend (September 20-22), the Bud Light Night of Fire (July 4), and the NHRA South Central Division points race (April 19-21) will all be returning, several new and exciting events stand out on the schedule. Some of these brand new events include Street Car Revolution, (March 2 and November 2) an event for the fastest street legal cars in the land; and Sport Compact Chaos (April 7), a drag racing event for import cars and domestic sport compacts.

A new highlight event is The BIG Bikes and Bands Bash (June 8 & 9), which will be a gathering for owners and riders of thundering cruiser motorcycles, and motorcycle and music fans of all ages. The "Bands" portion of the event will feature some of the top names of the music industry in a festival setting. Feature performers will be announced at a later date.

The staple of the Texas Motorplex schedule, once again is the 20 race O'Reilly E.T. Drag Racing Series, featuring drivers from all across North Texas. The championship points will begin March 9 and run until September 15. Lincoln Technical Institute and Sunoco will be bringing Fast Fridays and Ultimate Street Nights to the track. Fast Fridays will be test & tune nights and feature the LTI High School Series, while the wildly popular Ultimate Street Nights that debuted in 2001 will return on a more frequent basis in 2002 in hopes of taking illegal street racing off streets in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

The racing season gets started with SPEEDFEST 2002 on February 9 and the official Sunoco Season Kick Off bracket race is February 23 & 24. With more than 95 event days scheduled, fans will have plenty of opportunities to visit the Texas Motorplex in 2002.

Built in 1986 by Funny Car racer and Waco businessman, Billy Meyer, Texas Motorplex was the first "Super track" of drag racing. Annually hosting more than 550,000 spectators, Texas Motorplex is an entertainment facility featuring NHRA Drag Racing, music festivals, specialty events, and more.
