DAVIE, Fla. - Team Mopar Top Fuel owner Darrell Gwynn has announced the appointment of Larry Meyer as daily operations manager/assistant crew chief for the 1999 National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) season. Meyer will be responsible for daily activities along with assisting current crew chief Ken Veney for the Top Fuel dragster driven by Mike Dunn.

"It is a thrill to have a chance to work with Ken (Veney) and Mike (Dunn) next season," said Meyer. "Without a doubt, the Team Mopar dragster was one of the most consistent race cars out there last year. They have a great nucleus of talented professionals who work extremely hard. I look forward to beginning an aggressive off-season program in preparation for the 1999 season."

Meyer, 53, from Argyle, Tex., brings over 35 years of NHRA experience to Team Mopar. Meyer's background includes winning a 1992 NHRA Funny Car World Championship while serving as crew chief for Cruz Pedregon. Most recently, Meyer served as crew chief for the Havoline/Parts America Top Fuel car of Shelly Anderson.

"We are very pleased to have Larry on board for the 1999 NHRA season," said team owner Darrell Gwynn. "Larry brings immense knowledge of and expertise in fuel racing to our program. His oversight of daily race car preparation will help our team reach the next level. With the combination of Mike (Dunn), Ken (Veney) and Larry (Meyer), we feel that we have three of the most respected and talented minds in the business. Together, we will pursue our goal of winning a Top Fuel championship."
