MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the 11th annual Pennzoil Nationals presented by AutoZone, listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, (best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run):

Left Lane: Del Worsham Runs 6.118/130.87 Now #10, (Best prior run: 5.298/268.44 Was # 9)
Right Lane: Dale Creasy, Jr. Runs 5.206/275.34 Now # 9, (Best prior run: 9.507/ 95.31 Was #18)

Worsham loses power just past half track while Creasy moves from the outside to one spot ahead of Worsham.

Left Lane: Randy Anderson Runs 6.470/159.87 Now #16, (No prior time)
Right Lane: Frank Pedregon Runs 5.334/272.83 Now #11, (Best prior run: 8.701/ 99.18 Was #17)

Anderson losing power on the top end while Pedregon starts to lose traction on the top end, but still makes the show.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 14.174/ 30.32 Now # 2, (Best prior run: 4.981/301.47 Was # 2)
Right Lane: Al Hofmann Runs 10.564/ 82.30 Now #20, (Best prior run: 12.242/ 77.35 Was #21)

Capps launches hard and lifts the front tires up and up. It is standing straight up and is back on the wheelie bar. Bending the wheelie bar and almost blowing over, you can see light under the back tires. Then it come crashing down to Earth and Ron comes out of the roof hatch doing a Raymond Beadle impression.

Left Lane: Bob Weickgenannt Runs 6.317/171.44 Now #16, (Best prior run: 10.743/ 66.30 Was #21)
Right Lane: Gary Densham No Time Now #12, (Best prior run: 5.341/234.09 Was #12)

Weickgenannt is off and on the throttle at least three times to move into the bump spot. No help for Densham.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 4.924/311.13 Now # 1, (Best prior run: 5.086/303.98 Was # 4)
Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 8.603/100.11 Now # 8, (Best prior run: 5.180/280.95 Was # 8)

Force is in the Elvis car and he takes the Hunka Hunka Burnin' car to the top spot. Tony loses traction and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Glenn Mikres Runs 5.513/224.92 Now #14, (Best prior run: 8.379/ 94.80 Was #19)
Right Lane: Tom Hoover Runs 10.260/ 83.10 Now #16, (Best prior run: 5.725/188.20 Was #15)

Mikres launches hard and starts to spin the tires and pedals it and makes to half track and then pedals it again to get in the show. Hoover is up in smoke by half track and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Chuck Etchells Runs 10.982/ 75.09 Now # 3, (Best prior run: 4.980/286.68 Was # 2)
Right Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 4.955/310.27 Now # 2, (Best prior run: 5.060/288.46 Was # 4)

Etchells launches into big time tire shake and shuts it off. Bazemore with a clean pass to jump in front of Etchells.

Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.933/302.02 Now # 2, (Best prior run: 7.332/113.55 Was #19)
Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 10.743/ 79.35 Now # 8, (Best prior run: 5.179/281.83 Was # 7)

Cruz with a great pass to take over the number two spot, while Wilkerson is up in smoke and clicks it off. That is it for the Funny Cars
