LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Max Yaremko Runs 21.963/41.19, Now #1
12:12 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 70 degrees, relative humidity 32 percent, barometer 30.07 inches, adjusted altitude 3,204 feet.
Yaremko hits the throttle and loses traction instantly. He pedals once and gives up on the run.
Left Lane: Ray Martin Runs 5.563/281.07, Now #1
Right Lane: Steve Macklyn Runs 5.684/247.97, Now #2
Martin goes down the groove with a clean, straight pass and he takes the top spot for now. Macklyn makes a full pass and gets in the second spot for now.

Williamson goes down the groove with a decent run and he gets in the second spot for now.
Slater had a cylinder out on the right side all the way through the run. The car was drifting toward the centerline early but he stayed on the throttle and steered it back toward the groove.

Gasparrelli goes down the groove with the quickest pass of the round so far and he moves into the top spot for now. Whiteley makes a decent run and gets in the third spot for now.
