BRAINERD. Minn. - Two-time 2026 NHRA Funny Car winner Chad Green, the businessman/racer of Midland, Tex., is set to make another victory lane appearance this weekend (Aug. 21-23) at the NHRA Brainerd Nationals drag races.

After wins at the season-opener NHRA Gatornationals in Florida and the Chicago area's Route 66 Nationals, Green and his CGM squad have spent countless hours recently in their Indianapolis- based headquarters preparing for another win with the team's BP/Bond-Coat Ford Mustang for the popular Minnesota drag racing classic.

"We have been working really hard in the racing shop with a three-week break between races," said Green. "It's the back half of the season with the six-race Countdown coming up after Indy, and we want to be as ready as possible for the final swing. We need to win some more races to battle for the Funny Car World Championship."

The Chad Green Motorsports operation also has been campaigning two cars most of the 2026 series, but the team will be running only Green at Brainerd as they work towards the Countdown. Green's son, Hunter, will drive the team's second entry, Bond-Coat Dodge//SRT Hellcat, at the U.S. Nationals in two weeks.

"We thought running one car at Brainerd would help us as we collect parts for the Countdown and we'll test on Monday to try some additional parts for the U.S. Nationals," Green explained. "We have been running some consistent times lately, but we haven't gotten to the final round recently. That is our plan at Brainerd. Looking for that third 2026 win now."

Green brings his CGM BP/Bond-Coat Ford Mustang to the Brainerd Nationals with nitro qualifying at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. CDT on Friday (Aug. 21). Saturday's (Aug. 22) qualifying will take place at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. CDT, with final eliminations on Sunday (Aug. 23) at 11 a.m. CDT. Fox Sports 1 network will telecast Sunday's eliminations at 6:30 p.m. EDT/3:30 p.m. PDT.
