LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Jon Bradford Runs 5.278/272.89, Now #2; Best prior run: 11.185/71.67, Was #11
Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 19 percent, barometer 29.87 inches, adjusted altitude 3,862 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.
Bradford launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Jon Bradford's incremental times: 60ft-0.907 sec., 330ft-2.353, 660ft-3.483/218.48 mph, 1,000ft-4.455.
Left Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.253/273.61, Now #2; Best prior run: 8.854/120.36, Was #10
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.408/273.39, Now #8; Best prior run: 8.960/91.14, Was #11
Severance started to drift out of the groove over by the centerline. He stayed with it to go to the number two spot. Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.900 sec., 330ft-2.347, 660ft-3.467/218.12 mph, 1,000ft-4.430.
Fricke kept it hooked up to get in the show, straight down the groove.
Left Lane: Braiden Chesleigh Runs 5.553/235.56, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.472/221.74, Was #9
Right Lane: Randy Eakins Runs 5.479/242.28, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.549/245.85, Was #11
Chesleigh with a clean pass early and then started to drop the cylinders on the top end.
Eakins is straight down the groove with a clean pass, but will not get in the show.
Left Lane: Madison Payne Runs 9.622/82.85, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.309/273.00, Was #5
Right Lane: Mitch Myers Runs 5.653/249.63, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.503/253.37, Was #11
Payne was up in smoke around 150 feet and clicked it off.
Myers slowed down from his pass earlier today and he will not get in the show.
Left Lane: Shaunda Blinzler Runs 5.347/269.89, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.307/273.00, Was #4
Right Lane: Taylor Januik Runs 5.332/272.67, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.363/272.67, Was #7
Blinzler with a little tire shake right at the hit, but she drove through it, but will not improve.
Januik kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to make her quickest run today, but she will stay in the number seven spot.
Left Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.252/275.45, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.221/276.46, Was #1
Right Lane: Rich McPhillips Jr. Runs 5.285/273.16, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.315/272.56, Was #6
This was a good side-by-side drag race.
Cowie launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the quickest pass of the session. He will stand on his pass from earlier today. Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.926 sec., 330ft-2.358, 660ft-3.479/220.66 mph, 1,000ft-4.437.
McPhillips was straight down the groove, hitting on all eight to make his quickest pass of the day and move up the ladder a couple spots. Rich McPhillips Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.942 sec., 330ft-2.420, 660ft-3.525/225.26 mph, 1,000ft-4.470.
