LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 25th annual Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals powered by Direct Connection listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Chris Morel No Time, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.699/97.96, Was #21

3:01 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 18 percent, barometer 29.99 inches, adjusted altitude 4,007 feet.

Morel does the burnout but has problems and does not make a pass.

Left Lane: Jeff Diehl Runs 4.131/299.40, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.713/178.54, Was #20
Right Lane: Tim Gibbons Runs 4.633/178.97, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.140/271.46, Was #17

Diehl gets about 800 feet out and it looked like he blew a head gasket. The car pushes to the right and he has to back off of the throttle. Gibbons had problems and was off of the throttle early.

Left Lane: Dylan Winefsky No Time, Now #20; Best prior run: 4.279/279.50, Was #20
Right Lane: Jason Rupert Runs 6.307/104.94, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.025/312.21, Was #16

Winefsky has clutch problems after the burnout and does not make a pass. Rupert gets about 300 feet out, strikes the tires and has to give up on the run.

Left Lane: Buddy Hull Runs 4.163/257.63, Now #19; Best prior run: 4.197/253.23, Was #19
Right Lane: Dave Richards Runs 4.034/281.01, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.022/319.75, Was #15

Hull drifts to the right, then hazes the tires about 800 feet out. Richards was on a decent pass but lost a cylinder about 700 feet out. he gets about 900 feet out and the chute deploys, not sure why.

Left Lane: Del Worsham Runs 6.613/106.88, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.980/300.13, Was #12
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.205/275.34, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.014/314.02, Was #14

Worsham gets about 200 feet out and goes up in smoke. Pedregon was on a decent pass but had problems late and was off of the throttle early.

Left Lane: Chad Green Runs 3.969/329.26, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.956/320.81, Was #11
Right Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 3.995/315.42, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.990/314.90, Was #13

A good side-by-side, both down the groove with clean, straight passes but neither improve.

Chad Green's incremental times: 60ft-0.895 sec., 330ft-2.304, 660ft-3.228/280.19 mph.

Blake Alexander's incremental times: 60ft-0.880 sec., 330ft-2.271, 660ft-3.221/270.70 mph.

Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 3.958/326.40, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.950/327.66, Was #10
Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.906/333.08, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.932/333.33, Was #8

Lee was moving around all the way through the run but he stays on the throttle and makes a good run. Tasca goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up to the fourth spot.

Paul Lee's incremental times: 60ft-0.883 sec., 330ft-2.269, 660ft-3.209/276.58 mph.

Bob Tasca III's incremental times: 60ft-0.880 sec., 330ft-2.254, 660ft-3.174/283.79 mph.

Left Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 4.684/175.41, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.938/328.78, Was #9
Right Lane: Daniel Wilkerson Runs 4.548/185.33, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.919/329.02, Was #7

They hit the throttle, both gets about 300 feet out, then both go up in smoke.




Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.963/331.69, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.930/329.10, Was #8
Right Lane: Spencer Hyde Runs 3.929/325.77, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.917/324.75, Was #5

Another good side-by-side, both down the groove with clean, straight passes but neither driver improves.

J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.886 sec., 330ft-2.284, 660ft-3.222/278.46 mph.

Spencer Hyde's incremental times: 60ft-0.886 sec., 330ft-2.261, 660ft-3.181/280.49 mph.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 3.965/321.19, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.919/329.91, Was #6
Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 3.892/331.61, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.898/331.28, Was #3

Beckman goes down the groove with an impressive run, the quickest of the weekend so far, and he moves up to the top spot. Capps makes a clean pass but was falling behind all the way through the run.

Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.873 sec., 330ft-2.273, 660ft-3.206/274.94 mph.

Jack Beckman's incremental times: 60ft-0.870 sec., 330ft-2.244, 660ft-3.155/283.79 mph.

Left Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.917/325.85, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.897/329.75, Was #3
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 3.885/335.23, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.895/334.48, Was #2

Prock goes down the groove with a great pass and snatches the top position back from Beckman. Hagan makes a good run but he doesn't improve.

Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.878 sec., 330ft-2.261, 660ft-3.173/283.07 mph.

Austin Prock's incremental times: 60ft-0.880 sec., 330ft-2.253, 660ft-3.157/286.44 mph.
