LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 25th annual Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals powered by Direct Connection listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Chris Morel Runs 6.699/97.96, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.890/82.80, Was #21
Right Lane: Dylan Winefsky Runs 4.342/291.38, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.279/279.50, Was #17
12:32 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 30.03 inches, adjusted altitude 3,819 feet.
Morel gets about 200 feet out and the car goes silent, not sure why. Winefsky makes a clean pass but doesn't improve.
Left Lane: Dave Richards Runs 4.022/319.75, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.541/193.40, Was #18
Right Lane: Jeff Diehl Runs 5.741/126.98, Now #19; Best prior run: 4.713/178.54, Was #19
Richards makes a clean, straight pass and he gets in the field in the 15th spot for now. Diehl makes a move to the right, then back to the left, gets close to the centerline and backs off of the throttle.
Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.932/333.33, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.962/330.15, Was #10
Right Lane: Buddy Hull Runs 4.197/253.23, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.042/144.98, Was #20
Tasca goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up to the seventh spot. Hull looked like he may have had a couple of cylinders out for most of the run.
Left Lane: Tim Gibbons Runs 5.255/139.91, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.140/271.46, Was #17
Right Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.358/207.11, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.980/300.13, Was #12
Gibbons rattles the tires at the hit, gets about 300 feet out and clicks it off. Worsham gets about 700 feet out, hazes the tires and backs of of the throttle.
Left Lane: Jason Rupert Runs 6.652/96.10, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.025/312.21, Was #16
Rupert gets about 150 feet out, strikes the tires and clicks it off.
Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.349/211.13, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.014/314.02, Was #14
Right Lane: Chad Green Runs 3.956/320.81, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.974/321.42, Was #11
Pedregon gets about 500 feet out, loses traction and gives up on the run. Green makes his quickest pass of the weekend but stays in the 11th spot.
Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 7.701/93.89, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.990/314.90, Was #13
Right Lane: Paul Lee Runs 4.084/244.47, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.950/327.66, Was #10
Alexander hits the throttle, gets about 150 feet out and loses traction. Lee gets about 800 feet out, the car makes a move to the right and he gives up on the run.
Left Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 3.898/331.28, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.937/330.47, Was #8
Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 3.946/310.84, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.938/328.78, Was #9
Beckman goes down the groove with an impressive for the conditions and he moves up to the third spot for now. DeJoria makes a decent run but doesn't improve.
Jack Beckman's incremental times: 60ft-0.866 sec., 330ft-2.245, 660ft-3.163/282.78 mph.
Alexis DeJoria's incremental times: 60ft-0.891 sec., 330ft-2.277, 660ft-3.197/282.01 mph.
Left Lane: Daniel Wilkerson Runs 4.819/165.52, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.919/329.02, Was #6
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.110/249.63, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.930/329.10, Was #7
Wilkerson gets about 200 feet out, strikes the tires and gives up on the run. Tod was on a decent pass but had traction problems late in the run and he was off of the throttle early.
Left Lane: Spencer Hyde Runs 3.964/321.27, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.917/324.75, Was #4
Right Lane: Ron Capps Runs 5.119/148.51, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.919/329.91, Was #5
Hyde goes through with a full pass but he doesn't improve. Capps gets about 330 feet out, strikes the tires and backs off of the throttle.
Left Lane: Austin Prock Runs 3.906/333.33, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.895/334.48, Was #1
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.926/327.74, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.897/329.75, Was #2
A good side-by-side, both down the groove with good runs. Prock doesn't improve but stays in the number one spot.
Beckman will get three bonus points, Prock two, and Hagan will get one.
Austin Prock's incremental times: 60ft-0.880 sec., 330ft-2.264, 660ft-3.175/284.45 mph.
Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.881 sec., 330ft-2.264, 660ft-3.186/281.95 mph.
