ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 40th annual Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Chris Foster Runs 5.563/229.03, Now #6; Best prior run: 8.434/118.19, Was #11
Right Lane: Chip Beverett Runs 8.796/96.31, Now #12; Best prior run: 13.847/57.69, Was #12

11:27 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 52 percent, barometer 30.19 inches, adjusted altitude 1,927 feet.

Foster was moving around early in the run but stayed on the throttle and improved. He had a lot of smoke coming out of the engine near the end of the run.

Beverett had traction problems early in the run and had to back off of the throttle.

Bellemeur goes down the groove with an impressive pass to take over the number one spot.

Foster made a move to the left, then back to the right, then backed off of the throttle about 400 feet out.

Sipos goes down the groove with a clean, straight pass, running a career best and taking over the top spot.

Esz makes a decent pass and moves up to the seventh spot.

McCosh goes down the groove with a good pass and he moves up to the third spot for now.
