HEBRON, Ohio - Doug Foley and Del Worsham posted No. 1 qualifying efforts Friday for the Top Fuel and Funny Car classes in the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series return to Darana Raceway. Foley powered his 12,000-horsepower dragster down the track in 3.805 seconds at 321.66 mph to post the quick time in an ultra-competitive Top Fuel field. Jasmine Salinas was next quickest at 3.844 seconds with a speed of 314.69 mph. Shawn Reed was the third quickest at 3.854 seconds with a top speed of 322.81 mph. Krista Baldwin ranked fourth, followed by Lex Joon. The rest of the talent-filled ladder features Todd Paton, Mitch King and Larry Dixon Jr. set to race in Saturday's eliminations. Scott Palmer, who won the season-opening race at Darana Raceway - Hebron in July, was the first driver to miss out in qualifying.
Eric Stevens, McKailen Haddock and Jody Austin complete the rest of the eight-driver bracket. Mike McIntire, the previous Funny Car winner at Darana, was the first driver on the outside after qualifying. Frankie Taylor was the quickest in Pro Mod at 3.679 seconds and 199.73 mph, while No. 2 qualifier Kye Kelley posted the fastest speed at 202.34 mph. Taylor was also second in Outlaw Pro Mod. He had an identical elapsed time of 3.624 seconds with Brandon Pesz, who had the fastest speed of the sessions at 212.36 mph in Outlaw Pro Mod.
Jordan Peterson was the fastest man on two wheels with a 5.368-second run at 207.18 mph in Top Fuel Harley. Other No. 1 qualifiers were: Jared Dreher (Top Alcohol Dragster), Phil Esz (Top Alcohol Funny Car) and Rob Lowe Sr. (Outlaw Snowmobile). Pro-Am classes are also in action.
