POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 59th annual In-N-Out NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Jerry Kumre No Time, Now #2
Right Lane: Aaron Olivarez Runs 5.240/264.86, Now #1
Weather conditions: air temperature 65 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 29.85 inches, adjusted altitude 1,983 feet.
Kumre is making just his third appearance at a National event. His last National event was this event last season. He has problems on the burnout and is pushed back to the starting line.
Olivarez kept it hooked up to start the weekend with a great pass. Aaron Olivarez's incremental times: 60ft-0.925 sec., 330ft-2.377, 660ft-3.472/228.58 mph, 1,000ft-4.410.
Left Lane: Ron Anderson Runs 5.477/263.77, Now #2
Right Lane: Trevor Larkin Runs 5.515/250.04, Now #3
Anderson is straight down th groove with a good pass.
Larkin with a clean pass to start the weekend.
Left Lane: Mitch Myers Runs 5.288/270.27, Now #2
Right Lane: Kim Parker Runs 5.737/259.91, Now #5
Myers launched hard and kept it hooked up. He goes to the number two spot. Mitch Myers' incremental times: 60ft-0.941 sec., 330ft-2.415, 660ft-3.526/225.26 mph, 1,000ft-4.469.
Parker launched hard and then her front end came up and she pedaled it and got it to hook back up.
Left Lane: Nick Spiegel Runs 11.354/80.31, Now #7
Right Lane: Garrett Bateman Runs 5.330/271.68, Now #3
Spiegel lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off.
Bateman with a good pass and then something came of the car on the top end. He still goes to the number three spot. Garrett Bateman's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.452, 660ft-3.568/225.18 mph, 1,000ft-4.512.
Left Lane: Jon Bradford Runs 5.278/273.00, Now #2
Right Lane: Kirk Wolf Runs 5.316/272.94, Now #4
Bradford launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Jon Bradford's incremental times: 60ft-0.925 sec., 330ft-2.369, 660ft-3.495/219.97 mph, 1,000ft-4.458.
Wolf is straight down the groove with a nice pass. Kirk Wolf's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.468, 660ft-3.565/228.00 mph, 1,000ft-4.502.
Left Lane: Shaunda Blinzler No Time, Now #14
Right Lane: Chris Demke Runs 5.320/273.72, Now #5
Blinzler's car went silent after the burnout.
Demke is straight down the groove to go to the number five spot.
Left Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 17.361/45.77, Now #12
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 7.898/104.73, Now #10
Grisel is up in spot right at the hit and clicks it off.
Severance makes a move toward the centerline and clicked it off and kept it in his lane.
Left Lane: Madison Payne Runs 5.161/277.37, Now #1
Right Lane: Joe Maynard Runs 5.339/271.30, Now #8
Payne launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. She runs her career quickest pass here. Madison Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.931 sec., 330ft-2.355, 660ft-3.429/231.48 mph, 1,000ft-4.358.
Maynard is straight down the groove with a good looking pass. Joe Maynard's incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.456, 660ft-3.570/225.15 mph, 1,000ft-4.519.
Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 5.317/257.19, Now #6
Sampey has a hole or two out, but stayed with it. She still goes to the number six spot. Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-0.953 sec., 330ft-2.433, 660ft-3.533/228.11 mph, 1,000ft-4.479.
Left Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.473/272.12, Now #11
Right Lane: Julie Nataas Runs 5.290/272.72, Now #5
Fricke launched hard and started to lose traction and she does a quick pedal job. She gets it to hook up and goes to the number 11 spot.
Nataas kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number five spot. Julie Nataas' incremental times: 60ft-0.958 sec., 330ft-2.437, 660ft-3.539/227.54 mph, 1,000ft-4.477.
Left Lane: Hunter Green Runs 28.602/792.82, Now #19
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.254/277.32, Now #3
Green is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off.
Cowie kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.938 sec., 330ft-2.376, 660ft-3.491/222.25 mph, 1,000ft-4.444.
