LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 24th annual Ford Performance NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Travis Shumake Runs 3.897/309.20, Now #10; No Prior Run
Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 25 percent, barometer 29.83 inches, adjusted altitude 3,187 feet.
Shumake didn't make a pass earlier today. He launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his career quickest and fastest pass to go to the number 10 spot. Travis Shumake's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.213, 660ft-3.131/277.77 mph.
Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.680/161.81, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.962/82.58, Was #19
Right Lane: Ida Zetterstrom Runs 4.607/166.48, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.471/92.84, Was #18
They both are up in smoke about the same time and they both click them off.
Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.707/330.96, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.670/164.81, Was #18
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.728/324.12, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.485/175.89, Was #16
Kalitta launched hard and kept it hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.122, 660ft-2.984/294.05 mph.
Massey kept it hooked up and header flames lit all the way down the track. He makes his quickest and fastest pass of the season to go to the number six spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.124, 660ft-2.993/291.38 mph.
Left Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 11.633/84.21, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.315/194.72, Was #17
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.735/321.65, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.116/213.91, Was #15
Palmer was up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.
Brown had the header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down the track. He goes to the number seven spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.136, 660ft-3.002/292.14 mph.
Left Lane: Will Smith Runs 4.053/285.65, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.123/292.14, Was #16
Smith with a good pass early and then the engine started eating itself up and let go with a fireball. He improves, but will not move off the bump spot.
Left Lane: Jasmine Salinas Runs 6.102/107.89, Now #15; Best prior run: 3.943/253.99, Was #15
Right Lane: Josh Hart No Time, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.852/326.08, Was #12
Salinas is up in smoke early and clicked it off.
Hart was up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off. He came to a stop before the finish line.
Left Lane: Tony Stewart Runs 6.172/106.27, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.781/327.98, Was #10
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 5.663/130.83, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.787/328.70, Was #11
Stewart was up in smoke early and clicked it off.
Torrence started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Reed was up in smoke by 300 feet and got off the the throttle, but then back on it.
