LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 24th annual Ford Performance NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Kahea Woods Runs 7.948/165.70, Now #2
Right Lane: Malcolm Phillips Jr. Runs 7.053/188.57, Now #1
12:54 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 29.92 inches, adjusted altitude 3,071 feet.
Woods is making her Pro Stock Motorcycle debut. She hits the throttle, the front end starts porpoising, she drifts toward the centerline, but hangs on for a full pass. Phillips makes a decent pass to start the weekend.
Left Lane: Clayton Howey Runs 7.123/187.96, Now #3
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.073/193.24, Now #2
Howie makes a clean pass to get into the third spot for now. Scali goes down the groove with a clean pas to get in the second spot for now.
Left Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 6.991/192.17, Now #2
Right Lane: Marc Ingwersen Runs 6.881/194.49, Now #1
Oehler makes a decent run and ges in the second spot for now. Ingwersen goes down the groove with a good pass to take the early pole.
Marc Ingwersen's incremental times: 60ft-1.070 sec., 330ft-2.857, 660ft-4.390/159.36 mph, 1,000ft-5.730.
Left Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 6.961/192.58, Now #2
Right Lane: Steve Johnson No Time, Now #8
Bostick makes a clean, straight pass to get in the second spot for now. Johnson has problems and does not make a pass.
Left Lane: John Hall Runs 6.938/194.52, Now #3
Right Lane: Jianna Evaristo Runs 6.870/197.48, Now #1
Hall makes a decent pass and gets in the third spot for now. Evaristo had some problems getting the bike started but whatever the problem was did not affect her run. She goes down the groove with the quickest pass of the round so far to take the top spot for now.
John Hall's incremental times: 60ft-1.079 sec., 330ft-2.899, 660ft-4.439/158.65 mph, 1,000ft-5.784.
Jianna Evaristo's incremental times: 60ft-1.081 sec., 330ft-2.888, 660ft-4.411/161.36 mph, 1,000ft-5.735.
Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.850/197.59, Now #1
Right Lane: Chase Van Sant Runs 6.883/195.39, Now #4
Smith goes down the groove with a good pass to take the top spot for now. Van Sant makes a decent pass and gets in the fourth spot for now.
Angie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.075 sec., 330ft-2.874, 660ft-4.393/161.40 mph, 1,000ft-5.717.
Chase Van Sant's incremental times: 60ft-1.059 sec., 330ft-2.866, 660ft-4.399/159.68 mph, 1,000ft-5.737.
Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr No Time, Now #14
Right Lane: Richard Gadson Runs 6.881/194.80, Now #3
Arana did not make a pass. Gadson goes down the groove with a decent pass and gets in the third spot for now.
Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.825/198.85, Now #1
Right Lane: Gaige Herrera Runs 6.846/196.99, Now #2
Smith goes down the groove with an impressive run for the conditions and he takes the top spot to end this session. Herrera makes a good pass and gets in the second spot just behind Smith.
Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.071 sec., 330ft-2.859, 660ft-4.378/161.56 mph, 1,000ft-5.698.
Gaige Herrera's incremental times: 60ft-1.062 sec., 330ft-2.861, 660ft-4.383/160.69 mph, 1,000ft-5.710.
