ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Tony Stewart Runs 5.076/142.36, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.586/165.03, Was #17
1:42 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 88 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 30.06 inches, adjusted altitude 2,852 feet.
Stewart was on a decent pass but had problems about 500 feet out and clicked it off.
Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.201/209.05, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.752/323.74, Was #7
Right Lane: Josh Hart Runs 4.390/186.65, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.776/327.99, Was #10
Millican had problems late in the run and was off of the throttle early. Hart gets about 300 feet out and strikes the tires.
Left Lane: Krista Baldwin Runs 4.422/181.28, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.788/322.35, Was #13
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.796/329.60, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.632/164.53, Was #18
Baldwin gets about 400 feet out and strikes the tires. Kalitta makes a full pass this time and gets into the field in the 14th spot, knocking out Ferre.
Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.168, 660ft-3.060/287.63 mph.
Left Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 6.386/95.36, Now #16; Best prior run: 3.883/292.06, Was #16
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.768/328.83, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.762/324.93, Was #9
Palmer gets about 200 feet out and strikes the tires. Schumacher makes a good pass but he doesn't improve.
Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.160, 660ft-3.032/292.66 mph.
Left Lane: Jasmine Salinas Runs 3.780/330.30, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.788/327.84, Was #12
Right Lane: Cameron Ferre No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.557/217.97, Was #17
Ferre does not make a pass. Salinas goes down the track with her quickest pass of the weekend but she stays in the 12th spot.
Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.780/320.79, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.727/328.61, Was #4
Right Lane: Spencer Hyde Runs 3.884/313.26, Now #15; Best prior run: 3.846/319.47, Was #15
Langdon goes down the groove with a good pass but he doesn't improve. hyde makes a clean, straight pass but doesn't improve.
Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.184/214.03, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.737/326.75, Was #5
Right Lane: Ida Zetterstrom Runs 5.709/125.55, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.757/323.42, Was #8
Brown has problems late in the run and clicks it off early. Zetterstrom strikes the tires early and gave up on the run.
Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.783/330.98, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.721/332.03, Was #3
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 4.664/166.39, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.743/318.13, Was #6
Steve Torrence makes a decent pass but doesn't improve. Billy goes up in smoke about 300 feet out and clicks it off.
Left Lane: Shawn Reed Runs 3.804/325.90, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.676/330.71, Was #2
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 4.192/206.84, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.667/338.19, Was #1
Reed goes down the groove with a decent pass but he doesn't improve. Force gets about 400 feet out, strikes the tires, then backs off of the throttle.
