ENNIS, Texas - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Matthew Cummings Runs 5.224/280.36, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.258/277.83, Was #6
Right Lane: Joe Maynard Runs 5.232/273.61, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.268/275.35, Was #8
Cummings goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up to the second spot. Maynard improves and moves up to the third spot.
Matthew Cummings' incremental times: 60ft-0.950 sec., 330ft-2.419, 660ft-3.502/231.36 mph, 1,000ft-4.426.
Joe Maynard's incremental times: 60ft-0.929 sec., 330ft-2.389, 660ft-3.482/229.14 mph, 1,000ft-4.419.
Left Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.251/279.17, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.243/278.91, Was #6
Right Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 13.673/68.59, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.286/273.91, Was #11
Cowie makes a clean, straight pass but doesn't improve. Grisel goes up in smoke at the hit and has to abort the run.
Left Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.294/276.45, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.239/278.48, Was #4
Right Lane: Prescott Dean Runs 5.391/274.52, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.292/275.87, Was #12
Stalba makes a decent pass but slows from her earlier attempts. Dean slows from his earlier attempts.
Left Lane: Mike Coughlin Runs 6.307/161.23, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.216/272.28, Was #1
Right Lane: Julie Nataas Runs 5.271/270.50, Now #9; Best prior run: 15.901/49.57, Was #20
Coughlin has problems early and backs off of the throttle. Nataas is able to get the slicks to stick on this pass and gets in the show in the ninth spot. This is now the quickest Top Alcohol Dragster field in history. The previous quickest field was Pomona 2 in 2023 with a 5.331 bump.
Left Lane: Aaron Cooper Runs 5.526/260.33, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.410/275.33, Was #18
Right Lane: Megan Smith Runs 5.579/263.20, Now #20; Best prior run: 5.795/250.54, Was #20
Cooper has problems and is off of the throttle a little early. Smith makes her quickest pass of the weekend but it isn't enough to get in the show.
Left Lane: Greg Hunter Runs 5.350/265.97, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.386/266.71, Was #17
Right Lane: Terry Schmidt No Time, Now #19; Best prior run: 5.497/253.54, Was #19
Schmidt does not make a pass. Hunter makes his quickest pass of the weekend but he doesn't make the show.
Left Lane: Madison Payne Runs 5.315/276.38, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.316/276.48, Was #16
Right Lane: Nick Januik Runs 5.384/272.53, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.305/276.67, Was #14
Payne improves a little but stays on the bump. Januik slows from his earlier attempts.
Left Lane: Hunter Green Runs 5.290/276.89, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.310/274.56, Was #15
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.479/212.67, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.275/276.16, Was #10
Green goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend and moves up to the 13th spot. Severance slows from his earlier attempt.
Left Lane: Shaunda Blinzler Runs 5.287/275.18, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.285/274.96, Was #11
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 5.320/269.03, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.262/278.55, Was #8
Blinzler makes another good pass but doesn't improve. Sampey had a cylinder out late in the run.
Left Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.393/267.38, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.243/279.07, Was #5
Right Lane: Kirk Wolf Runs 5.293/273.97, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.252/275.68, Was #7
Fricke lost a cylinder around half track and slowed. Wolf slows from his earlier attempts.
