Rescheduled for October 2-4, 1998

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series event scheduled for Sacramento Raceway Park May 15-17 has been postponed because of continual rain that has left areas in the pits unusable. With more than 500 race vehicles anticipated at the event, a joint decision between NHRA and Sacramento Raceway Park was taken to reschedule the race for Oct. 2-4, 1998.

Explained NHRA Pacific Division Director Glen Cromwell, "The ground in the pit area is saturated to a point where parking the race teams off the asphalt would not be a consideration. Even if it stopped raining now [Wednesday] the pit area would not dry sufficiently to park the race teams; and with the weather forecast calling for continued showers through Saturday and Sunday we felt it would be in the best interests of the event, the race teams, sponsors and spectators to reschedule the race."

The rescheduled event calls for race teams to begin parking 8:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, with time trials slated to begin noon Friday, Oct. 2. Eliminations for Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car will be held Saturday evening, Oct. 3, with final eliminations in all other categories set for Sunday, Oct. 4.

For more information contact Sacramento Raceway Park at (916) 363-2653, or NHRA at (626) 914-4761, extension 272.
