DARLINGTON, S.C. - Reigning IHRA Top Fuel World Champion Paul Romine advanced to the final round today at the rain-delayed IHRA Southern Nationals at Darlington International Dragway.

Driving the CARQUEST Top Fuel dragster, Romine defeated Danny Dunn in the semi-finals, pedaling to a 5.139/251.06 to Dunn's 6.244/152.19. In the final round, Romine will face current IHRA points leader Tommy Johnson, Jr., who defeated Viveca Averstedt in the semi's with a 4.868/300.20.

Romine and Johnson, Jr. have never met in final eliminations of a NHRA or IHRA national event.
