GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 55th annual NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Joey Gladstone No Time, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Jianna Evaristo Runs 6.997/192.03, Now #8; Best prior run: 11.708/69.26, Was #16
4:56 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 58 percent, barometer 29.92 inches, adjusted altitude 2,205 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.
Gladstone had problems at the hit and he did not make it to the end of the track. Evaristo goes down the groove with a decent pass and moves up to the eighth spot for now.
Left Lane: Angie Smith No Time, Now #18; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.857/197.22, Now #3; Best prior run: 9.506/91.66, Was #16
Smith hits the throttle, it gets about five feet and the engine goes silent again. Arana makes a full pass this time and he gets off of the bump and into the third spot.
Hector Arana Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.088 sec., 330ft-2.880, 660ft-4.399/160.90 mph, 1,000ft-5.723.
Left Lane: Kelly Clontz No Time, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.437/186.69, Was #16
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.296/189.47, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.230/191.24, Was #13
Clontz had traction problems in the first round. Clontz hits the throttle, spins the tire, makes a move to the right and clicks it off. Arana makes a decent pass but doesn't improve.
Left Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 13.274/42.49, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.323/184.62, Was #15
Right Lane: Bud Yoder II Runs 7.111/186.43, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.176/186.43, Was #12
Wells leaves the line and starts trailing smoke. The bike slows but he is able to make it off of the track. Yoder made a full pass and improves but he stays in the 12th spot.
Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.804/195.70, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.266/192.99, Was #14
Right Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 7.043/192.66, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.105/190.46, Was #11
Johnson has a better 60 foot time, a 1.071, and he makes a big improvement to get up to the second spot. Bostick improves but stays in the 11th spot.
Left Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 6.966/191.95, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.051/190.19, Was #12
Right Lane: Marc Ingwersen Runs 6.983/193.90, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.997/193.88, Was #9
Oehler goes down the groove with a decent pass and he moves up to the ninth spot. Ingwersen slows from his earlier attempt and drops a spot as Oehler goes around him.
Left Lane: Richard Gadson Runs 6.817/198.32, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.886/197.28, Was #7
Right Lane: Chase Van Sant Runs 6.893/194.72, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.929/195.25, Was #8
Gadson goes down the groove with a career best and he moves up to the fourth spot. Van Sant improves but stays in the eighth spot.
Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.784/199.55, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.811/199.85, Was #3
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.814/198.23, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.874/196.33, Was #7
Smith makes the quickest pass of the round so far and moves up to the second spot for now. Tonglet goes down the groove with a good pass and he moves up to the fourth spot.
Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.071 sec., 330ft-2.857, 660ft-4.356/163.20 mph, 1,000ft-5.662.
LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.056 sec., 330ft-2.859, 660ft-4.369/162.27 mph, 1,000ft-5.686.
Left Lane: Gaige Herrera Runs 6.752/198.64, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.774/198.35, Was #1
Right Lane: John Hall Runs 6.825/196.39, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.865/198.73, Was #7
Herrera goes down the groove with another pass and improves on his top qualifying time. Hall makes a good run and moves up a spot to end this session.
Gaige Herrera's incremental times: 60ft-1.041 sec., 330ft-2.804, 660ft-4.308/162.24 mph, 1,000ft-5.624.
John Hall's incremental times: 60ft-1.082 sec., 330ft-2.866, 660ft-4.370/162.92 mph, 1,000ft-5.688.
