GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 55th annual NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Stan Sipos Runs 6.408/227.27, Now #2
Right Lane: Wayne Morris Runs 5.539/254.86, Now #1

5:38 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 53 percent, barometer 29.90 inches, adjusted altitude 1,999 feet.

Morris drifted to the left, then back to the right, and he hung on for a decent pass. Sipos' engine was laboring all the way through the run.

Left Lane: Phil Esz Runs 5.511/261.98, Now #1
Right Lane: Brian Gawlik Runs 5.650/259.76, Now #3

Esz goes down the groove with a decent pass and takes the early pole. Gawlik makes a decent pass and gets in just behind in the second spot.

Left Lane: Chip Beverett Runs 5.640/262.74, Now #4
Right Lane: Ulf Leanders Runs 5.512/261.72, Now #2

Leanders makes a clean, straight pass and gets in the second spot for now. Beverett was a little sluggish off of the line but came on strong at the end of the run.

Chip Beverett's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.567, 660ft-3.766/207.05 mph, 1,000ft-4.783.

Ulf Leanders' incremental times: 60ft-0.950 sec., 330ft-2.459, 660ft-3.642/208.49 mph, 1,000ft-4.654.

Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.470/265.17, Now #1

A good side-by-side, both down the groove with the quickest passes of the round.

Bob McCosh's incremental times: 60ft-0.960 sec., 330ft-2.470, 660ft-3.642/210.67 mph, 1,000ft-4.638.

Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.949 sec., 330ft-2.461, 660ft-3.628/212.16 mph, 1,000ft-4.624.
