POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 57th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Freddie Camarena No Time, Now #2
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.111/189.58, Now #1
12:22 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 30.06 inches, adjusted altitude 1,809 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.
Camarena's bike starts to push hard towards the center line. He finally crosses after
the 660 lights and his time will be DQ'ed.
Phillips runs well off his normal pass, but puts
a number up on the score board.
Left Lane: Katie Justice Runs 7.107/190.51, Now #2
Right Lane: Gaige Herrera Runs 6.965/191.78, Now #1
Justice is coasting early and Herrera get a clean pass.

Left Lane: Chris Bostick Runs 6.965/190.43, Now #2
Right Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 7.233/191.78, Now #5
No issues, but not great numbers.

Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 8.129/115.55, Now #6
Evaristo's bike drives hard towards the wall and she has to click it off early.
Arana has his own problem and his engine goes silent right after that.
Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.825/195.90, Now #1
Right Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 6.927/194.27, Now #2
Two clean passes and they move right up to the current top of the ladder.

Sampey runs close to her career best ET and speed to set a mark for the rest of the field to beat!

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec No Time, Now #12
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.840/192.93, Now #3
Krawiec bike dies on the line and is pushed away.
Straight and strong for Johnson into the #3 spot.
Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.056 sec., 330ft-2.853, 660ft-4.372/161.32 mph, 1,000ft-5.698.
Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.747/201.79, Now #2
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.802/197.59, Now #3
Smith leaves with a strong seven light and power right to the finish line for the current @2 sot.
Savoie was right behind her to end up #3.
Left Lane: Joey Gladstone Runs 17.350/39.41, Now #15
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.764/202.12, Now #3
Smith leaves hard and runs hard to set the track speed record and take the final #3 spot of the session.
Gladstone slows early and coasts on down the track.
