Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual NHRA Nevada Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Charles McLaws Runs 11.218/80.28, Now #18; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Robert Turner Runs 6.990/194.55, Now #17; No Prior Run

11:05 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 65 degrees, relative humidity 9 percent, barometer 30.15 inches, adjusted altitude 2,563 feet.

Chris Marshall is number one at 5.419 and Randy Parker is on the bump spot at 5.755.

Neither driver has been able to put up a valid qualifying number, so far!

McLaws strikes the tires at the hit. Pedals and is all over the track before lifting.

Turner gets a valid number this time, but he was off the throttle and coasting, as his Monte Carlo as heading hard towards the center line down track.

Robert Turner's incremental times: 60ft-1.158 sec., 330ft-2.980, 660ft-4.500/160.73 mph, 1,000ft-5.837.

Right Lane: Ray Martin Runs 9.568/91.09, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.741/250.46, Was #14

Martin leaves hard and shakes hard and lifts!

Left Lane: Ulf Leanders Runs 5.682/260.36, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.750/256.02, Was #15
Right Lane: Mike Doushgounian Runs 5.532/253.66, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.632/257.83, Was #12

Lender's Camaro uses a lot of track getting to the finish line, but it's still a good enough pass to move him a spot up the ladder to the current #15 spot!

Doushgounian runs straight and clean to jump up four spots to the top half of the field.

Ulf Leanders' incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.539, 660ft-3.781/201.91 mph, 1,000ft-4.816.
Mike Doushgounian's incremental times: 60ft-0.925 sec., 330ft-2.447, 660ft-3.643/206.61 mph, 1,000ft-4.663.

Left Lane: Doug Schneider Runs 5.927/195.90, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.650/255.82, Was #13
Right Lane: Kris Hool Runs 5.540/264.18, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.606/263.31, Was #12

Big plumb of smoke from underneath Schneider's Monte Carlo right after the 660 lights and he slows.

Hool gets a better pass today and powers up three spots to just miss the top half of the field.

Doug Schneider's incremental times: 60ft-0.950 sec., 330ft-2.490, 660ft-3.727/197.65 mph, 1,000ft-4.840.
Kris Hool's incremental times: 60ft-0.952 sec., 330ft-2.487, 660ft-3.676/209.14 mph, 1,000ft-4.687.

Left Lane: Nick Januik Runs 9.366/115.03, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.571/261.12, Was #11
Right Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 5.536/266.42, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.585/264.39, Was #12

These two are usually in the top half of the field.

Januik leaves hard and shakes the tires, He pumps the pedal, but no joy!

Westerfield gets a clean and straight pass up to the current #9 spot.

Shane Westerfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.512, 660ft-3.692/210.21 mph, 1,000ft-4.691.

Left Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.449/268.33, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.505/265.90, Was #6
Right Lane: Jim Whiteley Runs 5.569/263.62, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.569/261.07, Was #11

Two full pulls this time.

Hough gets a big leave off the line and pulls steadily ahead to power up into the current #2 spot. Nice pass!

Whiteley matches his Q1 ET with just a little more speed to stay #11.

Brian Hough's incremental times: 60ft-0.949 sec., 330ft-2.451, 660ft-3.619/212.03 mph, 1,000ft-4.610.
Jim Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.521, 660ft-3.710/208.88 mph, 1,000ft-4.717.

Left Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 6.133/173.87, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.494/268.44, Was #5
Right Lane: Matt Gill Runs 5.542/266.16, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.509/266.21, Was #7

Whiteley left hard and had better incrementals until right before the 660 lights and then was off the pedal.

No drama for Gill, but he doesn't improve.

Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.953 sec., 330ft-2.497, 660ft-3.694/196.04 mph, 1,000ft-4.912.
Matt Gill's incremental times: 60ft-0.967 sec., 330ft-2.512, 660ft-3.696/209.72 mph, 1,000ft-4.697.

Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.435/269.83, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.455/268.17, Was #4
Right Lane: DJ Cox Jr. Runs 5.814/193.88, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.501/264.80, Was #6

Cox's Camaro as hunting around the track and he is off the throttle a little early and won't improve.

Clean and straight pass for Bellemeur and a two spot move up to the current number two position. Nice!

Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.953 sec., 330ft-2.449, 660ft-3.611/213.54 mph, 1,000ft-4.600.
DJ Cox Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.949 sec., 330ft-2.471, 660ft-3.651/209.95 mph, 1,000ft-4.718.

Left Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.449/268.76, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.455/268.81, Was #4
Right Lane: Chris Marshall Runs 5.472/266.58, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.419/269.13, Was #1

Gordon finds a little tune up and gets the final number three position on speed.

Marshall will stay number one with his prior best.

Chris Marshall's incremental times: 60ft-0.947 sec., 330ft-2.451, 660ft-3.625/211.43 mph, 1,000ft-4.627.
