MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Bruce Dickson Runs 8.653/151.97, Now #26; No Prior Run
4:57 p.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 53 percent, barometer 29.65 inches, adjusted altitude 1,777 feet, track temperature 90 degrees.
Dickson had a clean run but it was not quick enough to make the field.
Left Lane: Thomas Miceli Runs 7.472/176.24, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.551/174.59, Was #25
Miceli moved up one spot in the order but enough to make the field.
Left Lane: Neil Jacobs Runs 7.502/174.32, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.453/176.72, Was #23
Right Lane: Ed Krawiec Runs 7.287/181.64, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.484/178.61, Was #25
Two clean runs that did not put either driver into the field.
Left Lane: Connie Cohen Runs 7.335/179.80, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.322/177.25, Was #22
Right Lane: Paul Gast Runs 7.220/179.44, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.294/184.25, Was #21
Gast moved up eight spots in the order and into the field. Cohen is still outside with two more chances to make the field.
Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.299/184.32, Now #22; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.274/181.30, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.293/181.35, Was #21
Arana came close to equaling his career best ET but it was still not enough to make the field. Schnitz beat his session two ET but is still not in the field.
Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.294/183.29, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.252/183.62, Was #17
Right Lane: Lloyd Straus Runs 7.326/177.79, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.272/180.09, Was #19
A pair of laps that had no effect on the order.
Left Lane: Kurt Matte Runs 7.262/183.62, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.241/185.10, Was #16
Right Lane: Tommy Grimes Runs 7.262/185.56, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.269/183.10, Was #18
Grimes improved his qualifying ET but not his spot in the order. Matte was not as quick as he was this afternoon.
Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.231/183.34, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.236/183.52, Was #15
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.123/183.27, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.224/183.34, Was #14
Both drivers had their quickest passes of the weekend so far. DeSantis stayed where he was in the order. Ellis moved up 10 spots.
Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.178/186.18, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.186/185.82, Was #11
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.241/176.56, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.218/182.28, Was #13
Another pair of good, clean runs that had no effect on the order.
Left Lane: Chip Hunter Runs 7.405/182.70, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.170/185.79, Was #9
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.244/186.41, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.199/187.16, Was #12
Both runs looked oaky but neither Hunter nor Johnson were as quick as they were earlier this afternoon.
Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.230/180.79, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.166/185.46, Was #8
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 8.306/115.89, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.179/180.57, Was #11
Tonglet's bike launched okay then sounded odd so he shut it down. Phillips was not as quick as he was in session two.
Left Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.191/183.52, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.156/187.50, Was #7
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.189/184.55, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.144/185.49, Was #6
Two good passes but neither driver improved on session two.
Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.171/184.67, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.141/185.64, Was #5
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.123/183.62, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.115/183.15, Was #3
Another pair of good laps that had no effect.
Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.125/187.50, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.101/189.50, Was #1
Right Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.175/181.59, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.102/182.95, Was #2
Hines and Savoie remain first and second in the order as neither rider beat their second session time.
