POMONA, Calif. - Fresh off back-to-back final round appearances in Top Fuel, Mike Salinas
continued his strong run on Friday, powering to the provisional No. 1 spot at the season finale, the
Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
Robert Hight (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) are also
the provisional No. 1 qualifiers at the final race of the Countdown to the Championship and the 2021
NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.
Top Fuel provisional No. 1 qualifier Mike Salinas drove his Scrappers Racing Top Fuel dragster to a
3.694 second pass at 328.78 mph.
Salinas went to the top position on Friday. If it holds, it would be the second No. 1 qualifier this
season for Salinas.
Funny Car provisional No. 1 qualifier Robert Hight drove his Auto Club Chevrolet Camaro SS to a 3.894
second pass at 330.55 mph.
Hight is after his third No. 1 qualifier in 2021 and 71st in his career thanks to his run on Friday.
Pro Stock provisional No. 1 qualifier Greg Anderson drove his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro to a
6.566 second pass at 210.21 mph.
Pro Stock's Anderson raced to the No. 1 spot on Friday. If it holds, it would be the 118th career No.
1 spot for Anderson, who is the current points leader and seeking his fifth world title this weekend.
Pro Stock Motorcycle provisional No. 1 qualifier Matt Smith rode his Denso Auto Parts/Stockseth/Matt
Smith Racing EBR to a 6.779 second pass at 201.19 mph.
Pro Stock Motorcycle's Smith went to the top for what could be the fifth time in 2021 if it holds.
The points leader is after his second straight world championship.
