LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Taylor Vetter Runs 5.491/266.37, Now #14; Best prior run: 10.290/90.17, Was #17
Right Lane: Johnny Ahten No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.086/131.48, Was #16
1:44 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 14 percent, barometer 29.91 inches, adjusted altitude 3,783 feet.
Ahten completes his burnout, pulls forward to stage, then clicks it off, not sure why.
Vetter goes down the groove with her first full pass of the weekend and improves but not enough to get in the show.
Left Lane: Ron Anderson Runs 13.066/93.29, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.539/187.65, Was #16
Right Lane: Mike Quayle Runs 5.578/250.69, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.446/252.10, Was #13
Anderson hits the throttle and goes up in smoke. Quayle had a cylinder out on the left side all the way through the run.
Left Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 5.348/271.24, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.402/269.24, Was #10
Right Lane: Mike Burns Runs 7.520/99.40, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.443/268.38, Was #12
Burns gets about 400 feet out and the chutes deploy, not sure why. Mercier goes down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend and he gets in the show on the bump spot for now.
Left Lane: Mitch Myers Runs 5.385/268.33, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.359/269.13, Was #9
Right Lane: Jasmine Salinas No Time, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.404/263.87, Was #11
Myers goes down the groove with a decent pass but he doesn't improve. Not sure what happened with Salinas. She completes her burnout, pre-stages, then begins waving to her crew. She never stages, the tree comes down and Myers leaves.
Left Lane: Steve Griboski Runs 5.297/273.22, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.294/271.41, Was #7
Right Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 5.341/272.83, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.376/265.90, Was #10
Griboski makes another clean, consistent pass, a career best speed for him, but he doesn't improve and stays in the seventh spot.. Grisel makes his quickest pass of the weekend but does not make the field.
Left Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.198/281.95, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.269/275.51, Was #5
Right Lane: Madison Payne No Time, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.279/274.22, Was #6
Payne completes the burnout, stalls on the track and has to be pushed off. Stalba goes down the groove with her quickest pass of the weekend and she moves up to the second spot for now.
Left Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.250/274.16, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.249/275.17, Was #5
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 9.346/86.82, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.225/276.13, Was #3
Cowie rattles the tires early and gives up on the run about 200 feet out. Severance makes another good pass but he doesn't improve and he stays in the fifth spot.
Left Lane: Kim Parker Runs 5.275/265.27, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.247/269.29, Was #4
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.227/276.35, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.188/275.39, Was #1
A good side-by-side here, both down the groove with clean, solid passes. Parker slows a little from her last attempt and stays in the fourth spot. Fricke slows a little but stays in the top spot.
Kim Parker's incremental times: 60ft-0.939 sec., 330ft-2.377, 660ft-3.485/223.76 mph, 1,000ft-4.438.
Jackie Fricke's incremental times: 60ft-0.922 sec., 330ft-2.387, 660ft-3.490/227.19 mph, 1,000ft-4.422.
