LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Mitch Myers Runs 5.359/269.13, Now #7; Best prior run: 19.479/52.71, Was #17
6:14 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 19 percent, barometer 29.93 inches, adjusted altitude 3,538 feet.
Myers went up in smoke on his first attempt. No traction problems on this one, right down the groove with a clean pass and he gets in the show in the seventh spot for now.
Left Lane: Taylor Vetter No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 10.290/90.17, Was #17
Right Lane: Mike Quayle Runs 10.003/88.34, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.446/252.10, Was #12
Vetter had traction problems on her first attempt. Quayle ran a career best.
Vetter completes her burnout, backs up, then clicks it off, not sure why. Quayle gets about 100 feet out, has traction problems and clicks it off early.
Left Lane: Ron Anderson Runs 9.870/86.77, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.539/187.65, Was #15
Right Lane: Mike Burns Runs 9.116/98.22, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.443/268.38, Was #11
Anderson gets about 200 feet out, starts spinning the tires, loses several cylinders and backs off of the throttle. Burns goes up in smoke at the hit and clicks it off early.
Left Lane: Steve Griboski Runs 5.294/271.41, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.684/247.57, Was #13
Right Lane: Jasmine Salinas Runs 9.746/85.15, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.404/263.87, Was #10
Griboski makes an impressive run, right down the groove with a career best ET and speed to move up to the fifth spot. Salinas has traction problems at the hit and has to give up on the run.
Steve Griboski's incremental times: 60ft-0.905 sec., 330ft-2.349, 660ft-3.492/216.97 mph, 1,000ft-4.467.
Left Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 5.404/263.82, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.402/269.24, Was #10
Right Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 13.284/80.81, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.376/265.90, Was #9
Grisel boils the hides at the hit and has to back off of the throttle. Mercier goes down the groove with a clean pass but he doesn't get in the field.
Left Lane: Kim Parker Runs 5.247/269.29, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.332/252.52, Was #7
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.188/275.39, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.294/266.69, Was #6
Fricke goes right down the groove with the quickest pass of the day and goes to the top spot. Parker makes a clean, straight pass and she moves up to the third spot for now.
Kim Parker's incremental times: 60ft-0.947 sec., 330ft-2.380, 660ft-3.481/225.79 mph, 1,000ft-4.425.
Jackie Fricke's incremental times: 60ft-0.906 sec., 330ft-2.362, 660ft-3.457/228.65 mph, 1,000ft-4.384.
Left Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.249/275.17, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.278/273.83, Was #5
Right Lane: Madison Payne Runs 5.295/273.66, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.279/274.22, Was #6
Severance makes a clean, straight pass and moves up to the fourth spot for now. Payne makes a decent pass but was a little sluggish early in the run.
Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.893 sec., 330ft-2.343, 660ft-3.471/219.58 mph, 1,000ft-4.432.
Madison Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.936 sec., 330ft-2.420, 660ft-3.532/223.62 mph, 1,000ft-4.479.
Left Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.269/275.51, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.271/278.81, Was #5
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 11.707/64.13, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.225/276.13, Was #2
Cowie rattles the tires off of the line and is off of the throttle about 200 feet out. Stalba makes a clean pass and improves but stays in the fifth spot to end this session.
Karen Stalba's incremental times: 60ft-0.967 sec., 330ft-2.434, 660ft-3.534/227.80 mph, 1,000ft-4.464.
