LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 8.602/117.84, Now #2
Right Lane: Ray Martin Runs 5.686/257.78, Now #1
Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 14 percent, barometer 29.95 inches, adjusted altitude 3,808 feet.
Gasparrelli with tire shake early and he clicked it off.
Martin was straight down the groove with a good clean pass. Ray Martin's incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.556, 660ft-3.776/203.06 mph, 1,000ft-4.812.
Left Lane: Hunter Jones Runs 5.623/259.81, Now #1
Right Lane: Terry Ruckman Runs 5.631/262.33, Now #2
This was a good looking side-by-side drag race.
Jones with a great pass...Hunter Jones' incremental times: 60ft-0.960 sec., 330ft-2.519, 660ft-3.730/204.39 mph, 1,000ft-4.757.
Ruckman is right there with him. Terry Ruckman's incremental times: 60ft-0.972 sec., 330ft-2.539, 660ft-3.751/205.19 mph, 1,000ft-4.773.
Left Lane: Chris Marshall Runs 5.554/265.27, Now #2
Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.500/266.27, Now #1
Marshall with a great pass, straight down the groove. Chris Marshall's incremental times: 60ft-0.967 sec., 330ft-2.502, 660ft-3.694/207.53 mph, 1,000ft-4.704.
Whiteley launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.951 sec., 330ft-2.479, 660ft-3.658/210.37 mph, 1,000ft-4.656.
Left Lane: Nick Januik Runs 10.563/110.44, Now #8
Right Lane: Brian Hough Runs 10.376/73.40, Now #7
Januik with severe tire shake and clicked it off.
Hough lost traction and clicked off.
Left Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.540/263.77, Now #2
Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 7.335/132.63, Now #7
Number one in two in the points, this year and will be again next next year. They will just be flip flopped. Bellemeur clinched the National Championship last weekend here.
Gordon launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Doug Gordon's incremental times: 60ft-0.944 sec., 330ft-2.483, 660ft-3.675/208.26 mph, 1,000ft-4.687.
Bellemeur started to lose traction just before half track and clicked it off.
