Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 36th annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Cory Lee Runs 4.229/298.93, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.385/275.73, Was #12

Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 56 percent, barometer 30.16 inches, adjusted altitude 1,958 feet, track temperature 107 degrees.

Lee is straight down the groove and he makes his quickest and fastest pass of the season. He will stay in the number 12 spot.

Left Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 4.254/254.38, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.093/310.20, Was #10
Right Lane: John Force Runs 4.096/256.84, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.907/164.81, Was #13

Campbell with a clean pass, but will not improve and will start from the number 10 spot.

Force with his quickest pass of the weekend to go to the number 11 spot.

Left Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 3.964/299.66, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.940/327.98, Was #7
Right Lane: Paul Lee Runs 3.941/330.47, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.132/252.00, Was #12

DeJoria is straight down the groove with another good looking pass. She will not improve. Alexis DeJoria's incremental times: 60ft-0.879 sec., 330ft-2.239, 660ft-3.178/272.01 mph.

Lee launched hard and kept it hooked up to make his quickest pass of the weekend. He goes to the number eight spot. Paul Lee's incremental times: 60ft-0.891 sec., 330ft-2.258, 660ft-3.194/276.69 mph.

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 3.884/332.67, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.932/290.82, Was #6
Right Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 9.178/74.58, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.036/308.50, Was #10

Wilkerson kept it hitting on all eight and hooked up to go to the number two spot with his quickest pass of the weekend. Tim Wilkerson's incremental times: 60ft-0.882 sec., 330ft-2.242, 660ft-3.150/284.75 mph.

Alexander was dropping cylinder or two right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.915/329.34, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.913/328.22, Was #6
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.916/330.31, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.956/328.38, Was #9

Tasca III launched hard and was straight down the groove. He is just a couple ticks slower than his quickest pass of the weekend. Bob Tasca III's incremental times: 60ft-0.873 sec., 330ft-2.250, 660ft-3.172/281.19 mph.

Todd kept it hooked up and was straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend to go to the number seven spot. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.882 sec., 330ft-2.254, 660ft-3.175/281.54 mph.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 5.480/133.55, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.896/328.86, Was #4
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 3.875/326.00, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.912/327.03, Was #5

Capps is up in smoke by half track and clicks it off.

Pedregon kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.222, 660ft-3.132/283.85 mph.

Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 3.917/325.85, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.895/333.82, Was #4
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 3.899/322.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.883/330.39, Was #2

Johnson Jr. with another good looking pass, he will start Sunday from the number four spot. Tommy Johnson Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.252, 660ft-3.170/282.66 mph.

Hight with another great pass, he makes the third quickest pass of the session. Robert Hight's incremental times: 60ft-0.884 sec., 330ft-2.246, 660ft-3.155/283.79 mph.

Pedregon holds on to the number one spot for the first time this season and the first time since Chicago 2015. This is the 62nd time he has qualified number one in his career.
