Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #1

BROWNSBURG, Ind. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 67th annual Dodge//SRT NHRA U.S. Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Justin Schriefer Runs 4.097/302.55, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 62 percent, barometer 30.04 inches, adjusted altitude 2,270 feet, track temperature 95 degrees.

This is his first race since the U.S. Nationals last year. He launched hard and kept it hooked up to make a great pass. Justin Schriefer's incremental times: 60ft-0.912 sec., 330ft-2.339, 660ft-3.307/266.95 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Jurado No Time, Now #3
Right Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 6.609/105.81, Now #2

Jurado is shut off after burnout as he is leaking fuel.

Creasy Jr. starts to shake early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Dave Richards No Time, Now #3
Right Lane: Chad Green No Time, Now #5

Richards is making his fourth appearance on the tour this year, the last was Charlotte.

Richards started to lose traction early and clicked it off.

Green starts to drift out of the groove early and collects the timing blocks. He was out in front of Richards so neither driver's time will count.

Left Lane: Bobby Bode Runs 3.952/259.06, Now #1
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 5.194/152.78, Now #5

Bode is back in the car after his father drove it in Brainerd. He launched hard with wheels up. The car is over by the wall and he has to click it off early. He still runs his career quickest pass. Bobby Bode's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.201, 660ft-3.099/282.78 mph.

Haddock lost traction early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 7.240/93.23, Now #8
Right Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 4.176/240.47, Now #3

Lee started to lose traction early and he pedaled it, but lost traction again.

Campbell is straight down the groove, but clicked it off early.

Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 3.970/318.69, Now #3
Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 3.949/324.28, Now #1

this is a good side-by-side drag race.

Alexander kept it hooked up all the way down the track to the number three spot. Blake Alexander's incremental times: 60ft-0.874 sec., 330ft-2.257, 660ft-3.207/271.52 mph.

Wilkerson launched hard and kept it hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Tim Wilkerson's incremental times: 60ft-0.882 sec., 330ft-2.273, 660ft-3.202/279.21 mph.

Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 3.896/323.66, Now #1
Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 3.915/321.88, Now #2

This was a great side-by-side drag race.

Pedregon had the header flames shooting high over the roof line all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.228, 660ft-3.146/279.38 mph.

DeJoria is right there with him to the number two spot. Alexis DeJoria's incremental times: 60ft-0.891 sec., 330ft-2.250, 660ft-3.170/280.72 mph.

Left Lane: Robert Hight Runs 3.889/329.67, Now #1
Right Lane: Ron Capps Runs 3.907/326.08, Now #3

Hight had it hitting on all eight and hooked up to go to the number one spot. Robert Hight's incremental times: 60ft-0.877 sec., 330ft-2.244, 660ft-3.151/282.48 mph.

Capps with a real nice pass, stright down the groove to the number three spot. Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.875 sec., 330ft-2.237, 660ft-3.164/280.37 mph.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 3.877/330.72, Now #1
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.905/326.63, Now #4

Force launched hard and kept it hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Force with his quickest pass this season. John Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.880 sec., 330ft-2.234, 660ft-3.139/283.01 mph.

Todd with a great pass to start the weekend. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.884 sec., 330ft-2.259, 660ft-3.167/284.33 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.889/332.67, Now #2
Right Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. No Time, Now #19

Tasca with a great pass to go to the number two spot. Bob Tasca III's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.233, 660ft-3.152/281.77 mph.

It was announced today that Matt Hagan has recently tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be competing in this year's event. Tommy Johnson Jr. will substitute this weekend. Because os the NHRA COVID-19 rules all points Johnson earns this weekend will count for Hagan.

He does the burnout and the team shuts him off.
