COMMERCE, Ga. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, 40th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Dave Richards Runs 6.606/99.97, Now #1
Right Lane: Paul Lee Runs 8.839/75.68, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 30 percent, barometer 30.10 inches, adjusted altitude 1,902 feet, track temperature 119 degrees.

Richards starts lose traction and clicks it off.

Lee is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 4.141/302.96, Now #1
Right Lane: Jim Campbell No Time, Now #4

Haddock is straight down the groove...Terry Haddock's incremental times: 60ft-0.923 sec., 330ft-2.354, 660ft-3.338/261.57 mph.

Campbell drops a cylinder and the car pushes toward the centerline and he collects the finish line timing cones, so his run is DQ'ed. This will cost him five points.

Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 4.047/276.35, Now #1
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 5.769/119.03, Now #4

Alexander was on a good looking pass until on the top end when it started to haze the tires. Blake Alexander's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.255, 660ft-3.216/265.27 mph.

Pedregon was up in smoke by half track.

Right Lane: John Force Runs 4.995/159.31, Now #4

DeJoria dropped a cylinder or two right at the hit and clicked it off.

Force started to lose traction, he pedaled it a time or two before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.501/189.90, Now #5
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.419/203.22, Now #4

Wilkerson started to drop cylinders and clicked it off.

Hagan started to lose traction and clicked it off early.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.006/313.73, Now #1
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 5.088/154.53, Now #8

Capps launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.877 sec., 330ft-2.281, 660ft-3.233/271.79 mph.

Hight started to haze the tires and clicked it off.

Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 5.656/126.27, Now #10

Todd with a great looking pass to go to the number one spot. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.883 sec., 330ft-2.290, 660ft-3.230/276.52 mph.

Tasca III started to haze the tires and clicked it off.
