BUNKER HILL, Ind. -- The "First Lady of Drag Racing" and three-time NHRA World Champion, Shirley Muldowney has been named grand marshal and will be appearing at historic Bunker Hill Dragstrip's 65th anniversary drag race and reunion to be held August 28, 2021. The event will highlight a full season of racing, with a complete schedule to be announced by new track owner Mark Cregier in coming weeks.

Shirley Muldowney
Muldowney was the first woman to win a national event in the National Hot Rod Association's premier Top Fuel-dragster class. She went on to claim NHRA season championships in 1977, 1980 and 1982, as well as winning 18 national event titles, most at the wheel of her trademark pink dragsters.

Often facing discrimination and hostility for being a woman in a dangerous, male-dominated sport, Muldowney's life was chronicled in the movie "Heart Like a Wheel". She has been inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (1990), International Motorsports Hall of Fame (2004) and Automotive Hall of Fame (2005).
